When you capture a Outpost/Castle/Village after defeating the Base Commander Gold and Chests will Drop. Look to the Emblem of your country in the center of the base. This book is 1 of the early book groups that will drop while you have 1 Star fame during the campaigns.

After the Storyline battle of Crecy, Edward the Black Prince will realize the usefulness of the Mercenaries and promote you to 2 Star Fame. Then go do any Campaign, Story or not, and these books will now be obtainable thru capturing bases. One of the group of 2 Star Fame books.

After doing a later France Storyline Campaign (Not sure which ATM) The Nobles will notice the Mercenaries accolades and you will be able to reach Rank 3 Fame Stars. Should become a possible drop after reaching three stars from Captured bases in Campaigns. This is the only Book droped from a Red Chest during your 3 star famedom.

After Reaching 4 Star fame from Storyline Campaign at Ile De France (you can be either on French or English side, the English *Which I did* Have to defend a base for 3 days straight*) John Fastoff *again if you did the English side* will commend you on your hard work and recommend to the Prince that he acknowledge your efforts and you will be promoted to 4th Star Fame.This book will become a possible drop from Bases that your capture during a Campaign. Apparently lower percentage drop rates than the other book groups. 1 of the 4 Star fame Group books. Personally, I got the Magic book off of Duke De glaisen (gotta recheck the spelling on that) when I KO'ed him during a Random Campaign after I got 4 Star Fame, and Chariot and Elephant I just got out of random bases during my 4 Star fame missions.

Pretty straightforward, just keep completing Storyline Campaigns. Eventually the Leader of either the French or English Armys will promote you to command their Army, you will fight one last big fight, view a cutscene then save and get the achievement.

Once you have finished the storyline and started the game with your save, you will see two people talking about strategies in the gossip of the bar.The Explosive book quest line has 4 Missions, 3 Fetch Missions, and a Demo Mission. They are campaigns with side missions from Christine de Pizan. Just do a few French missions after you beat the game and she should pop up.

After you beat the story line quests, you will see the two men talking about strategy when you check gossip. To get the Engineering Tome, you need to 100% research Sword/Horse/Bow so that an Avatar of war will show up and give you the Silver weapons for that squad. You also need to have 70% learned on ALL other Books as well. Once you have 100% on the mentioned 3 and 70% on all the others (Firearms included) and the Avatar will reappear and give you this tome. *Note the Avatar shows up in the Tavern*

I wished there was more info for the engineer book. I know i maxed out sword, bow, and horse and got nothing. As for killing all the types of enemies, im pretty sure i killed every unit in the game including the trumpteer, catapult, ram, trebuchet, etc.

I wished ppl who have it would provide more info. anything would be helpful and the more detailed the info the better.

Your call, like I said, I only suggested it. It just doesn't seem as clearly phrased as many of the other excellent achievement guides on the site :) And it'd literally take 2 minutes to rephrase.
I.e. Start the game and create a character. Save the game file and these 3 achievements will all unlock together.

Problem is a lot of people don't actually know how they got the Engineering book, which is why it is such a problem.

Book of Explosives.

Happens after end game.

You start to hear rumour of a person, French affiliated, Christine de Pizan. Her role is a scholar in charge of developing weapons. Read every gossip, and keep an eye out for quests with her requests. Complete each one successfully and in the end she will give you the book.

can anyone confirm what the last mission is, because i have done the mission where you have to save joan of arce and i am sure that i saved afterwards but i haven't got the cleared story achievement.

i have also done one of the quests for Christine de Pizan where you have to find the right wood, but i throught that you could only do this after you have completed the game. someone please help me.

I don´t recall the name (probably "Rumble in Aquintine" or summin) but before it the black prince comes to the Tavern to promote you to the rank of commander and you have to win this battle for him (so what´s new). For me, Joan of Arc came to the tavern and promoted me to general. Then I did one final big battle on the French side and it gave a cutscene and I got the finished game achievement. I guess it depends if you've done mostly English or French missions throughout the game. The battle is probably the same, it just changes which side you're fighting on.

quick question, i am at one star fame yet my bar is full and i am geting books such as the halbreds and clubs but i have yet to get the rapier.. now do the books drop only during the certain star fame levels or can i still pick up the rapier book if i am at 2 star fame?

There's always a chance to pick it up after you pass up the star rating that it is usually has been obtained.

Fetch missions are the side missions during a campaign where they have you go to a certain point in the map to get an item or defeat a base to get the item from the base. Not sure if they stick around but they will be brought to your attention by someone in the Gossip in the Tavern.

I've added more info as the firearms one was only HALF correct. I will put more time in for them but i've seen the gossip about them and just need to kill EVERY unit type as I have never encountered a few of them.

the book of engineering does not need to have 100% horse you can use spear instead. i only ended up with 85% horse.

I can confirm Caboose here, you need to either command every unit type or kill every unit type, then hand over your notes to one of them and then he will return with the final spear tome page. Then u can get it to 100%.

Also you only need to reach those bear mimimum requirements 100% Bows/Spear/Swords and 70% in all else, btw you dont even need all the pages for each tome, i am still missing one from explosives when i got my engenieering.

The explosives book actually has 4 missions 3 fetch missions then a demostration mission. All are with Christine de Pizan, i found after i finished the story i only did french missions and she popped up soon after and started the longish process.

I just met "Christine De Pizan", the one that is meant to make the book of explosives, it seems that she shows up shortly after you do the story quest for "You Ji" to find the forged letter.

I think this needs clarification. the book of explosives is gained after you beat the main story. After you finish the game you are able to do more missions eventually you will stumble across a mission with a sub objective to find the "right wood" after you do that keep doing some more french missions and you will see another mission with a sub objective to find "the right steel" once youve done that do a few more french missions and you will see a mission with a sub objective to find "the right sulphur" once all those 3 are found do a few more french missions and christine de pan will ask you to do another mission (which you need to win) then after that mission you will be granted the book of explosives.

The first I got was Spears, in my first battle at all.
In my 2nd battle, I didn't get any books.
In my 3rd battle I got both Knives and Halberds even though the guide says Halberds is later on....

One of the Story missions is French you have no choice. Once you beat it the Camel book should be in the group of books you can get. I've played hundreds of side missions and couldn't get those books until I progressed story. That's what I went off of, and other people have told me the same.

I too got the halberds book, for example, while still being on level one... ...so perhaps the hypothesis that defeating the enemy mercenaries that are running about that are higher star levels is what unlocked this book for me..... who knows.?

can anyone confirm whether or not you can actually miss out on certain missions... or... if you fail at a mission, when do they let you try them again... or do they?? and what would happen if you accidentally lost one of the missions for the last too books? would you have the chance to try it again, or would you have to quit without saving and wait to be asked to do the mission again?

ok so im going through andive got maxed out fame now which wuld if there is going to be a fifth bar . . .but all ig et now is gossip aftet gossip after gossip and none of it is really important at all . . .arrr come on more storey

and also im guessing its 100% growth on sword spears annd bows. . . not just the research . . .this right . . .??
