Well I've never played real drums before, but I do know a trick to help you get through some songs and to get the 100% achievement.
When you hit two energy phrases on drums you do a drum roll and hit the green to activate your overdrive. Well, just don't hit that green and the drum roll section will continuously appear taking out many small sections of a song. It has helped me through some tough ones.
For 100% play I Think I'm Paranoid. There are no drum rolls that I can remember and the beat is mostly the same the entire time. Use the trick above and you should get it in no time, I got lucky and got it my first try.
