Quick FAQ
What are achievement rewards?
From the main menu, go to Extras -> Achievements. You can view all of the achievements you've unlocked so far in the game; some of them have special rewards attached, for example increasing your shields or unlocking talent trees for new characters.
Will this affect new characters?
Yes! Each reward is attached to your profile, so new characters will get the same health/shield/experience bonuses. Also, when you create a new character, you can add one talent from a talent tree you've unlocked to that character (i.e. you could give a Biotic the Assault Rifle tree if you've unlocked Assault Rifle Mastery).

Are the talent tree unlocks limited to one unlock per character or is it possible to have a "does-it-all" character?
TasteyMaggot

When you start a new character, you get the option to select a "bonus talent" or something like that. Then you get to pick one talent tree from all of those that you've unlocked (a talent tree being something like "Shotgun" or "Lift," not "biotics").

Seems it would be logical that the complete on hardcore achievement unlocks insanity difficulty. Probably unlocks more though.

So if you beat the game once you can play from the beginning
(new game) with a different class or sex then the last time you played, and those achievement rewards will carry on in your new game even if you pick different class?

Yes. You will get extra shields/health/experience, and you can pick one of the unlocked trees to add to your character.

Really, that's it? I was hoping for something more fun... like faster medigel recharge, more medigels allowed, or god mode :-)
Updating the list... thanks!

Hey, when did you get the first aid achievement?
I'm about halfway through my second play through (once on normal and now on hardcore), and I feel like I've probably only healed 30 times. 150 seems like a huge number!

Everytime you get hurt heal. you just need a lot of healing

Well what class are you? I was a vanguard my first playthrough and i was almost always out of medigel. Like the slightest injury i would use one.
About halfway through with a new character i started (soldier) i got it. I was actually rather surprised i did lol

I was a vanguard on my first play through (Combat + Biotic), and this time I'm an Infiltrator (Combat + Tech).
When I was a vanguard, whenever I saw a red blip on radar I used Barrier, so I didn't take much physical damage. If Barrier and my shields ran out, I usually hid, because I was trying to get the Tactician achievement.
Now that I'm a Infiltrator, I've been trying to mostly snipe, so I usually only come out of cover to one hit someone. Even on Hardcore, most of my heals are for my teammates, not me.
Hopefully I'll get First Aid Expert someday... :-)

Wow, nice...
Hey, did you get all these yourself, or did you find these online somewhere? If you got them, do you have a perfect 1000?
Does this mean the Long Service Medal has no rewards?
Thanks for the info!

No, I haven't got them all. I have the Sentinel Ally, but the rest I cut'n'pasted into a Word doc from some other forum, but don't remember where. :)
Long Service Medal: +5% weapon damage.
Forgot that one! Sorry.
Oooohhhh, what gamerpics do you unlock? I'm looking for a new one :D

Honestly, I don't know what picture you unlock. I finished Hardcore, checked pictures, and couldn't identify it.

You can see them here:
http://www.mygamercard.net/leaderboard.php?gt=&g=355&z=&c=&x=52&y=13
In the top left of the page, it says "GamerPictures from this game:" I assume that these are the two pics unlocked by beating Hardcore/Insanity, but I can't confirm this yet.

Did anyone else notice that the wording of these rewards is really inconsistent?
One reads "Shield strength increases by 10%" (Tactician) and another reads "Increase shield strength by 10%" (Geth Hunter).
Also, the Damping achievement says it unlocks Electronics (Electronics is the skill, Damping is the ability that skill gives you), but the Sabotage achievement says it unlocks Sabotage (even though Decryption is the skill).
This stuff is minor, but it really bugs me in a retail game. Am I just crazy?

A few people have asked me about the gamerpics unlocked by beating the game, so I've added the pics to the guide. These pics are from MyGamerCard (http://www.mygamercard.net/leaderboard.php?gt=&g=355&z=&c=&x=62&y=11), which show gamerpics unlocked from certain games.
I can verify that beating Hardcore unlocks the N7 pic, and since there is only one other one available, I'm going to assume that comes from beating Insanity. I'll let you know if I work up the guts to play a third time and unlock it :-)

Ok, right now I'm just reloading a save point to get the weapon achievements. Will this still give me the bonuses, even though the actual save won't 'have' that amount of kills?

It is attached to your GT somehow, you can't change your character skills without making a new character. The save file you unlock doesn't matter, if you want to get the extra talent, make a new character.

Oh, my mistake. I saw an "N7" logo in my gamerpics after I finished Hardcore, but I guess I got that from either the collector's edition or the preorder disk (both came with extra gamerpics).
I've swapped the gamerpics in the original post.

Whew! Just finished the game for the fourth time, netting myself the final 50 points... for a grand total of 1000 in Mass Effect! :woop:
I can now personally confirm that each of these rewards is correct, down to the wording in the Extras -> Achievements screen.
Even though I've been posting a lot in the last two weeks, I'm still pretty new to these forums... is it okay to ask for a sticky for your own thread? :) I think this information is pretty important and is directly related to achievements, and now the guide is finished and verified.
Thanks!

Yeah you can request sticky for your own thread and this certainly deserves it. As a note of caution, you shouldn't make it a habit to double post. Thanks, so much for your effort and congrats on the full 1000.

Wait, huh? You got the same pic for beating hardcore, but a different one for beating insanity?
Can you locate the pic on this page (http://www.mygamercard.net/gpscout.php)? Find "By Title" and select "Mass Effect." These should be all of the gamerpics unlockable for Mass Effect, as well as those purchased through pic packs. Note, the collector's edition and preorder pics are under a different heading.

Hey I'm bumping this thread in particular because it's addressing exactly what I had a question in.
Long story short, I wanted to have another Soldier type but with all biotics. So I would beat game, achieve biotic achievements with new characters, then after achieving required achievements, start one more new soldier with all biotics. Can I do this? I'm guessing not, but what are the tech trees that you choose from? I'm not totally getting that particular part of the thread.

The closest you can get to a biotic soldier would be Adept with AR skill or Vanguard with Singularity. You can ony add one extra talent to any new character.

Look at the list of "ability" achievements. If you unlock all of them, when you start a new character you can pick ONE of the abilities that you have unlocked to give to that character - that they wouldn't normally have.
So you can't have a soldier with all biotics. But you could have a soldier with ONE biotic.
Lift would be my choice. :)

barrier for me. add immunity to that with a heavy colossus X, and you become INVINCIBLE. when taking out the turrets right before endgame, i could take two blasts head on (shield boost after the first) before having to find cover. on insanity. that's power right there.
creepers and rachni basically did zero damage, but that's just immunity working, i suppose.
