With Mass Effect out we can start evaluating and judging. This is my top 5 games that showed me something I hadn't seen before. Halo 3 was an awesome game, but it didn't add that much to the FPS genre. It was just done incredible well and I will buying those map packs on the 11th. I digress, here are my top five original games of 2007.
1. Assassin's Creed: A stealth game that takes place entirely in daylight outdoors, and it works. A platformer without obvious legdes and gaps. A unique plot that while iffy at times, keeps you on your toes. This is a unique game that is at this point, one of a kind.
2. Crackdown: GTA as a superhero, nuff sed. Nice style, nice action, a good time that gives a unique take on a repetitious genre.
3. Mass Effect: I love this game and I hate RPGs and constantly roll my eyes at scifi. It creates a living world that takes the best parts of KOTOR and translates them to a truly original setting. An RPG with shooting that is actually an endevour of skill as opposed to well, an RPG.
4. skate.: We were all f***ing sick of Tony Hawk's button mashing. Skate made it stick mashing and truly brought it back to the fundamentals of skateboarding with amazing physics and nice graphics. If you haven't checked this out, by all means do.
5. Portal/ Orange Box: Arrives from gamefly on Monday, haven't palyed it yet, but it looks like nothing else on consoles. Not perfect, but a lot of fun.
I want to see yours. I know I left Bioshock out.
