The new levels are finally here in USA to download!!! It took them long enough!

Milky Way Constellations - 200 Points
Roll up 88 constellations to make the Milky Way

The Weaver Girl - 200 Points
Collect lots of string and yarn to make the Weaver Girl, Vega.

Shopping Spree - 200 Points
Be a thrifty shopper and go on a shopping spree to make a space station.

High-Calorie Katamari - Collect Lots of Food to make Cetus The Whale.

Also added was

Character Set A and B (200 each)
These add Cousins. 14 in each pack. I think they are all Cousins you can unlock in the normal game.

Accessory Set A and B (200 each)
These add Presents. 12 in each pack. I think they are all Presents you can unlock in the normal game.

I thought you needed seven for all the achievements?

It looks like you do. Only 6 or so new cousins in these 4 levels and there are still blank slots for more in the cousin leaderboard. Maybe we can at least get the astronomical katamari now though.

That's lame. I have other games to work on so I'll just download these and wait for the other three. I love Namco Bandai, they make awesome games, but this is ridiculous.

Yes it is, but at least they are on their way. How long between the asian release of the first 4 and the next 3? Maybe a similar time till we get them. Anyway, I posted what I could find on my first run through of the new levels in your present\cousin thread. Didn't find them all but got a lot of them.

The Asians had access to all levels less than two weeks after the game launched, but they were indeed released in two batches like this.

There are days I hate not being in other countries. <lol> Some get games faster, others get movies, Dr.Who specials. Sheesh. Anyway, I just tried with only one run through of the 4 new levels and I ran out of stuff at 1,480,000km so I'm guessing with some more runs we will at least be able to get the astronomical one.

gatorbait

So we still won't be able to get the achievement for downloading all stages and collecting all cousins and presents???

Hopefully we can get astronomical katamari. Looks possible seeing how close you got.

Hallelujah! Well I have Mass Effect to keep me busy (just lost 5 hours of my night to it) but at least they are there. We may not be able to get all the achievements, but it is better than the prospect of never getting them with out having to create an asian account. I can't think of a game worth that must hassle.

My feelings exactly (including the 5 hours lost to Mass Effect last night). :)

Got all presents and cousins from this new batch and no achievement popped so we definately have to wait for the next batch to finish up. Posted all the locations, might work on a what counts for what constelation or price list for the new levels of maybe the master item list next. <lol> Boredom is not my friend.

Dammit. So we still can't get the full extra 250 with these?

LAME.

I dunno. I think I'll wait a year to see if they come out with a bk WITH the dlc already on the disc. At one point I was hyped for the new maps and now I'm glad they didn't come out back then. Only 4 maps and it requires 7 to get all presents? C'omon! Just put the content on the disc and stop nickle and diming everyone.

It is a bit excessive... at least in terms of price. I'm holding off on this for a while to decide if I really want to spend that much just to finish off these points.

yup. I'm going to wait a while to see if this goes down in price like the map packs for GOW.

So, is it at least possible to get the Astronomical Katamari achievement with the available DLC levels? Of the DLC achievements, Astronomical Katamari is still worth more points than the Cousin or Present achievements...

Ashande

Not sure if it's because I did it on the Chateau or because it's not available yet, but after doing a few runs on each of the new levels today, I went in and did Chateau, managed 1.523km on the Katamari, finished out, no achievement. I'll try it later on Schloss Kosmos, to make sure it's not because of the level I chose to do it in, but it looks like it might take another load of content to do what we need to. Which I find rather irritating, personally, but oh well. The new levels are kinda cool, at least, especially the constellation one.

jab1981

Exactly what I'm hoping for. Though I might end up trying to ignore what a ridiculous rip off it is by buying one piece at a time... lulling myself into thinking I'm just making small purchases instead of basically spending enough to buy another game. No wonder it was so cheap initially... with DLC it'll be well over what most games cost.

So we don't even have a list yet of all the downloadable content we'll need to get these achievements yet? I'm wondering... will we have to download all the DLC? With the 8 packs out now it's already at $20... sheesh...

Daritan

I got the Astronomical Katamari achievement last night so it is definately possible. Just put enough whales and space stations up in the sky and go for an old fashioned Schloss Cosmos run and its doable.

Edit-Some people are saying that Schloss on Normal is the only place to get achievement also. Apparently Chateou and Eternal modes did not get it even though people made the required sizes.

Doubt they'll lower the prices for this. Maybe you'll have to wait for over a year for that and plus, it isn't that expensive. I think its worth it. You got much more worthless crap on the X-Live market and these contents aren't one of them. If you're a hardcore Katamari fan like I, you should buy all the contents and stop being a bunch of babies.

What I'll probably do is just play until I eventually get the 100 hours legit (not leaving it on overnight) and then buy them.

You don't need 7 levels.

On the top leaderboards for supergiant.

Someone within the first 5 pages is from the U.S and he has 1250 points

You do need the 7 levels in order to get the other cousins and presents. I already got all the cousins and presents on the new four stages and I didn't get the achievement. The next 3 levels (whenever they plan to release it) has the remaining cousins and presents. He has everything because he probably did the Japan/Korean account crap.

So the options are... we either become hardcore Katamari fans like you or we remain a bunch of babies? That doesn't exactly seem like a balanced set of choices. Hmmm...

That said, so far these downloads are totaling $20. That is fairly expensive, it's half the cost of the game... and there are more levels yet to come so that price will only increase. While I'm not going to argue that there aren't worse purchases one can make on the XB Marketplace that doesn't make this particular set a good purchase or any better of a deal. There's plenty of horrible content that's over priced on the Marketplace and I avoid it too, just as I'll continue to avoid this while my willpower holds out.

That said, I'm glad you're happy buying the content. It's always cool when you get extras added to a game at a price you're happy with. I know I'm excited to nab me some Halo 3 map packs. And I love your name btw. I miss my old Sega Saturn. All my Sega products for that matter.

Am I correct in my understanding that so far in order to get all 1250 pts you'll need to download all 8 packs that are out now? If I do cave in and start buying them... I don't want to buy any more than I need too. Darn these achievement points.

That's me, and I did too need all seven levels. I started a thread on this board, telling everyone how to download all seven levels from Korea, but nobody took me up on my super-easy instructions, so now I'm the only american who's anywhere close to the top of the supergiant leaderboard.

PLEASE, don't anybody buy those stupid present/cousin packs. Nobody needs them, and it was misleading of Namco USA to go and release them before they'd released all seven game levels. Now I keep getting private messages from people asking me if they need those dumb things, which is a reasonable curiosity in this situation.

Lol, I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything. Just I don't understand why people would complain. If you enjoy the game enough, why not just pay up? It isn't going to kill you. If some people actually spend money on a lot of crap on the market then I don't see why spending some money on this which is worth it imo.

Thanks and you can always go to Ebay and rebuy all those Sega memories ;).

These contents aren't enough to get all the 1250 points. You have to wait for them to release the other three levels in which it has the rest of the cousins and presents. Kinda gay but oh well. Just hope they release it within the next month, these bastards wasted all my MS points.

Those packs are for people who are mysteriously incapable of finding that stuff in the levels, which is insane. I can't imagine what sort of person would buy such things. Maybe very, very small children with lots of mommy and daddy's money to burn up.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. You really like this content! :) It's just weird to be labeled so harshly for not wanting to pay so much for a game. I'm still kinda in the school of thought where I like to buy a game to own it... I'm still coming around to the idea of buying the game and then needing to pay almost that much again to unlock the rest of the content. Just used to those Sega days when you'd buy a game and own it. Seems like game developers are just holding out on some of the extras to try and make some extra cash later.

Awesome, I'm much more inclined to buy levels than "cousin/present" packs. That price was getting insane. If I can get the 1250 from buying the 7 levels I'm game. Still a bit pricey and a shame they didn't give some sort of bundle discount... but that's much better than what I was expecting. I was really starting to think I'd be forced into buying like 15 or 16 little packs. Phew.

If you read the full descriptions for those packs, it tells you that all that stuff can be found in the levels.

How exactly is buying the 7 levels pricey again? 14 bucks added onto the $40 pricetag of the initial game, for 1250 points. Yeah, how much was Gears+Map pack again? Oh, right. Hah. Or better yet, Oblivion+Shivering Isles?

Those games also have a lot more content packed into them. Compared to those games, including the multiplayer for Gears, Beautiful Katamari is fairly short. Again, it's just a preference and that's why it is optional.

Well put, plus I'd add as far as those two games are concerned.... with Gears of War, I didn't pay anything to download the map packs they were free for me. As for Oblivion, it was $30 to download an expansion which is a pretty major addition to the game. I haven't paid that as I plan on picking up the Game of the Year addition which includes it basically for free once again.

I agree, I think the greatest problem (myself included) is that Katamari is so short... it really feels like charging people to unlock the rest of the game is a bad move. But, again like gatorbait said, it is just personal opinion... I can see from this forum there are more than enough people who think this is the deal of the century... and I know I'll probably be cashing in points today to nab the Halo levels even though they'll be free in a few months too. So we've each got our own favs.
