Ok so far I got these achievements during the Masyaf overrun (pretty much very beginning)

10 min in fight
100 kills without dieing
100 counter kills
25 kills in a single battle

I read on the achievement guide that the following achievements...

50 combo kills
100 assassination kills
50 stealth assassinations kills

Can be done in this area too, can someone explain to me... how? I understand that you can combo the guards but when they are charging you there is no possible way to kill them with assassinations. Or does he mean some other "beginning town" like Damascus? Here is the exact wording.

Just go in and out of the beginning town and assassinate, combo, counter the guards over and over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think when it means by "beginning town" it means when you reach Damascus. All of the guards in Masyaf, after the Templars attack, are part of the assassin's guild.

For the combo achievement you must use your sword or knife, and time hitting the X (attack) button until you see the animation of a soldier getting killed. Usually about 4-5 hits to the enemy triggers the animation.

The Assassination achievement is just 100 assassination kills whether they are stealth (do not hold down the right trigger when walking up to a enemy and pressing X with your ^ d-pad weapon (finger blade)] or non stealth assassinations (hold down the trigger while pressing X)

The stealth kills must be from the front or back when the enemy is not aware that you are an assassin and your sync bar is white and not blinking red.

There is no reason to do those achievements in the starting area, just go to the first city and you'll have many more enemies to kill and get the achievements faster.

I hope some of that helps... the game is not hard to play, but the controls and names for things in this game are hard to describe.

I still don't know if I am getting these combo kills right though, sometimes it plays an animation like the counter kills, but most of the time it just goes white and the enemy just keels over

If the enemy just dies it doesn't count. The enemy must die with an animation like the counter move. Usually winds up being a sword plunge into the guards neck.

After some practice the combos are pretty easy... just don't try them with like 7 guys attacking you at once. It's easier if you are fighting like 3 guys.

When it plays the animation is when you know you've gotten a combo kill.

I think the most difficult is to get the 25 men to even follow you and then defeat. I've nearly done it at the first target, but then left it coz I nearly died. I suppose that would be easier when you kill a "boss" (a target).

The easy way to get Combo Kills and stuff is in the Training Ring.

I found out accidentally when i was starting my first Acre assassination.

Practicing them to get them down for real fights and the achievement pops up.

Also with counters, it doesn't have to kill them, a stun counter also counts, I got the achievement on a stun counter on a Templar you see.

You know this has me wondering -- if you can get combo/counter kill achievements in the training ring, can you get the Eagle's Will achievement the same way? It just says "Defeat 100 opponents without dying" and doesn't say you have to kill them. Problem is, in the ring there is only 1-3 opponents, and I don't know if you'd get credit for defeating the same guy 100 times.

Any time. It just seems to be easier after you kill a boss given the number of guards that gets on you at the time.

The counter/assassination/throwing knife kills aren't worth worrying about too much early in the game. I ended up getting the bulk of the Eagle achievements about half way through without really actively going for them.

But yeah, the combo kill doesn't necessarily change the camera angle and go all cinematic when you nail it. There are about 5 stock animations for combo kills though so you'll get used to recognising them.

a real cheap way to get the last 10 minutes in fight would be pissing off a crossbow guy and hanging off a ledge where he cant shoot you but can still see you. Just left my game on, went to grab something to eat and came back with the achievement lol

To get the 8 minute (after you get the achievement it says 10 minutes) achievement, I just found a place with vigilantes. I provoked a guard and jumped up onto a nearby ledge. The vigilantes will hold the guard while you basically just stare at him for 8 minutes. I took the time to clean my fish tank. :)

Sorry, my mistake. For some reason I thought I remembered reading 8 minutes prior to the unlock, then 10 minutes after the unlock. I think I'm just flat out wrong and it's 10 minutes any way you look at it. Sorry.

I was wondering, does anyone know if you can get this by equipping the throwing knives and just using them for combos and counters, or do you actually have to throw them?
Also, for "The hands of a thief" does it still count if you pickpocket when you already have the max of 5 throwing knives?

What you're using when getting combos and counters with the knives equipped is the 'short blade'. It's a different weapon but shares the throwing knife weapon slot. So yeah, combos and counters will net you 'short blade' kills. Not throwing knife kills unfortunately.

But yeah, you can still use throwing knives in regular fights. You just have to target someone who's out of range of your short blade.


On the subject of pickpocketing, if you have 2 knives, and you pickpocket so you have the max knives, technically you only gain '3'. And this is how it's added. So you pretty much have to pick pocket 200 throwing knives in that sense. It becomes easier later though as your total knife count increases.

if u pickpocket with a max of 5, u get none which means 0 is added. Meaning no., but like matt said if u have 2 and u PP u get 3 which adds to the count. I want to kno how much does it increase by cuz I kno it does, could u end up holding like 25.

I'm at the moment able to hold 10. And from what I can tell I can pick pocket 5 per thugs. So I need pick pocket 2 thugs to fill up. Having a quick scan of the guide that is the maximum you can hold.

Yeah I want to know how to kill 25 guards in one battle too. How on earth do you get it in Masyaf. every them I try there just isn't enough soldiers to kill or they end up running away.

Tips for both

Eagle's Flight - Last 10 minutes in Open Conflict
Eagle's Challenge - Defeat 25 guards in a single fight

If you're having trouble getting these whilst playing normally, just carry on through the levels until you get to the last few assassinations. Here there are more guards around and more patrols. Start a fight with one patrol, easy. If you're lucky more guards will come and join the fight adding to the number of guards to kill. Once you kill most of them, remember to save at least one. Now with this guard left, press LT to lock-off him and start running. Stay ground level and stay in eye sight of the guard so he follows you and keeps you 'Open Combat'. Whilst running a few guards should join the pursuit. When you think you have enough on your tail, stop running, turn around and unleash the wrath of your sword (MUAHAHAHA). Repeat this process of keeping one guard (sometimes two helps) until you get either achievement you're after, or, like me, both.

Hope this helps you who are having trouble with this.

the two most common combo kills i came across were the one where he kicks the enemy in his knees and snaps their necks, and the other being a punch in his face and slash across his throat.

For this achievement, I picked a fight with one of the guard standing around one of the view towers in the Kingdom. Then I just climbed up the tower and waited out the 10 minutes.

*Note: While on top of the tower your indicator turns and remains yellow. It's Ok. You still get the achievement. As long as it stays red or yellow through out the whole time. Until you get it.

Yeah...lol i think i got my combo kill one in the ring. I just did one combo kill and boom achievement unlocked. This was after my countless slaughtering of guards with combo kills though.

What you do get in a fight with the guards make them push you in a corner then hold down the RT then you tape it down. then you wait ten minutes. and you have it.

No, if you're holding right trigger it's not a stealth assassination, you need to walk up and do the thing where you cover their mouth (holding right bumper makes you jump on them or force them to their knees).

iv struggled to get any sort of combo kills out in the real world so i will be doing it in the training ring as thats when i found it easiest.

with the 25guards in a fight.i got to about 16 with still two guards left and then they decide to run away so i lose my red and yellow status before i can find any other guards but the best places to get this is when ur coming into a city from the kingdom as thats when there is the most guards

i think it's not need training arena because the counter kill is too easy and most useful way for kill the guard in the game.you can unlock it soon.

The biggest problem with the kill 25 guard achievement is when you get down to 1-2 guards, they ALWAYS run away, and I lose my engaged status. It never fails me, i'd like to see who could keep the sole remaining guard on them until you can find another batch of them, I just can't see it happening. I supposse i'm going to try to find a place where I can get the achievement, i'm not a champion in combat, and after taking on two or 3 groups of stronger guards (the ones with the full helmets) i'm just about ready to die. Where did you go to get your achievement, please be specific! Thanks!

simply go to the guard camp on the east of kingdom map(in the way of arce)
and try it again.it very easy at there because the guard never stop coming

I just got Eagles Challenge, your social status bar must be blinking the whole time, it can blink either yellow, or red, but it cannot drop back down, or else you lose the tally for this achievement. Just posting to confirm! BlackcatS thanks for the tip, I ended up going there to get my flags, and got bombarded, almost died like 10 times, but ended up getting the achievement! woohoo!

Does anyone (preferably someone with the achv) know how to get the achievement for 50 combo kills? the guide says it should be done by attacking twice but the training ring tutorial suggests RT and X as soon as the swords come in contact. I am having difficulty gaining this (i do the way the game says) and am wondering why

It's very difficult, you should work on the timing to get it right. In the training ring, when you swing, you'll hear the clank of swords hitting, this is when you hit X again. It must be when you hear the sound, or else it's too late, there seems to be really no leeway about it, that's why this is the toughest one to get.

If your mashing buttons (repeatadly hitting X instead of trying to time it) you'll never get it. It took me halfway through the game to figure this out.

Now, when your trying it in the training ring, if you do it correctly, the teacher who's watching you train will give words of encouragement, something like 'very nice' and the like. If you get it wrong, just keep trying. You can get the achievement IN the training ring, just repeat it 50 times, get the teacher to pat you on the back 50 times, and the game will award the achievement to you. This is probably the easiest, and most boring way to do it, but at least you can keep count as your trying to get it.
