I keep getting nailed by missiles because i had to switch my control type to novice (Can't get the hang of regular). That control scheme doesn't allow you to roll and i don't know how to avoid missiles. Does anyone else using this contol-type have any suggestionson avoiding missiles? Also, how do you use the landing gear? I haven't been very far into the game but and ach is to land 10 times on frontline. Is it automatic on "novice" ?

To avoid a missile, roll the plane on to knife edge ( or as far over as you can, I don't know how far the novice control will allow you roll ), pull both left and right triggers to execute a High G turn, and pull the control stick all the way down. You are trying to turn so fast and hard that you exit the missiles radar cone so it loses lock. You only need to turn about 100-180 degrees. Don't do a complete circle or you will just end up in front of the plane that fired the missile again. Once you have broken the missile track take the fight to the plane that launched it or he will just fire on you again. He'll be the guy directly behind you most of the time.
The High G turn will bleed speed like nobodies business, so get on afterburner or dive as soon as you can after you exit the turn.

Same trouble here, all I hear constantly is the "beep-beep-beep" of incoming missiles and then get to see the plane crashing animation. I'm so frustrated with this game right now, I'm really regretting buying it. I wish there were some tutorials in the game that actually taught you how to do stuff, rather than "do something that we won't explain and then tutorial ends OK you're ready to go!".

This game isn't that hard. Use your high g turns a lot. Use the closest radar because you can see missile on it and their direction. The beeping just means you've been locked onto and fired at, and the missile is within a certain range of your plane. Doesn't always mean it's going straight towards you. When it says caution, to avoid that annoying beeping, turn away.

Well, I thought I'd give this game another chance...just spent an hour trying to do the mission where you have to take down those big air carrier things. Couldn't do it. I could take 2 down tops, but all I'd hear constantly (I mean the entire mission) is beep-beep-BEEPBEEPBEEP "CAREFUL THEY'VE GOT A LOCK ON YOU!!!" (I KNOW, SHUT THE HELL UP) and boom...dead. Start all over again. No thanks, for those that like this game I'm not begrudging it to you, but for me, it completely blows and is the worst game I've played all year.

Fly in circles (preferably horizontal) and when you see a Strigon press up on the d-pad and hold it. Your teammates will attack them and kill them all. If you can't use the squadron attack command, I believe all you need to do is destroy a few AA guns or engines to get it to pop up. This game doesn't ask much of you.
