With all due respect to the legions of interneties who adore the show, I dont.
I have tried to watch the show but often I found myself drifting off as a result of the boredem.
Now i was never a fan of anime and one of my friends is trying to get me into it, with the knowledge of me being an avid gamer he bought this game for me as a birthday gift.
I dont want to open it just yet because I always have the option to return it for something else, with his blessings ofcourse.
So can anyone tell me if someone like me, someone who isnt a fan of the naruto series will enjoy this game?

A friend of mine has never heard of Naruto and he seemed to enjoy the game for the few hours I left it with him. I don't think it really goes into the plot deep enough to get you into anime, so your friends plan may not work regardless of whether you like it or not.
There's some really cool combat. Playing against friends on the same console is a lot of fun (not so much over XBOX Live, they're having some launch issues and people always seem to pick the 'cheap victory' characters).
The story mode is pretty cool. It's not one of those story based games where you have to sit there listen to conversations constantly. There a fair bit of exploring although you do revisit a lot of the same locations. It's not really what I would consider 'freeroaming'. It's a lot like how in GTA you can go anywhere at any time, but the main missions come at you in order. There's also a surprising amount of platform work (ie, jumping on rocks to cross water). It's by no means a platformer, but you get around the world outside the village walls as if it were.
Overall it's a pretty fun fusion of several different elements from different genres. If there's another game you'd really like to play then you should probably trade it in, but if you're just going to trade it in because you're unsure whether you'll like it or not I say go for it. If you're worried about your friend getting annoyed, I say just risk opening it and give it a shot.

I appreciate the effort you put into our reply.
After doing some more research on the game, well I have to say that the visuals have really left me impressed.
To be fair, There is no other game I really want that I can trade this in for. I just bought Guitar hero, Timeshift and assassins creed isnt out yet. Money isnt really an issue for me when it comes to video games so I will try this since an adventure game just might be what i need after a steady influx of shooters.
Thanks.

Hmm, I've heard about the anime, but have not seen it, but it does sound rather good.
It's like me, I'm not a Halo fan, yet, I managed to play through Halo 3, finishing the game.

To be perfectly honest me being a hardcore Naruto fan & all i really don't think anyone that is not a fan will hack this game for to long due to so many flaws programmed in the game that will drive people crazy. Personally if i wasn't a fan i'd probaly stay away from this game. The RPG mode is killer but the fighting just doesn't feel like an authentic Naruto fighting game but hey that's just my opinion.

The only thing i don't like about it is how it stops the game and go's into "Battle mode" instead of you having the option to just continue on by running past the opponent. :p

500 Gs points in and I'm loving this game.
It's a genuinely fun change from SHOOTERS.

I really liked this game, fun and a nice break from other things, also I ended up ordering the first box set of the unedited series. I just hope they add in a DLC to either make it easier to find the coins or have the villagers point you in the right direction since it can be a real pain searching everywhere, especially when you're pretty sure you searched all over the place lol

Yes...well, for me at least...
I really really really don't like Naruto, or at least I didn't. Now I'm all confused and junk...I'm still pretty sure I don't want to sit down and watch the show (although as I play through I feel like I'm missing something..) but I love the game. The visuals are amazing and the exploration and fighting are fun.
If your a fan of some platforming with your fighting you might want to check it out. And if Naruto is a real deal breaker for you just do what I do, pretend its not a anime series at all and just another anime style game!

I really want to play this game! Right after I had rented the Simpsons Game I found out they had had copies of it there but hadn't put them on the shelves. I've read about this game, too bad it ends right where it starts to get good. Then after that there's millions of fillers (that I watched...) and then it goes into Shippuuden wich I've only seen thew first 2 episodes. Aside from the anime, it looks like a great.

I had not regularly watched an anime series for something like 10 years until I started playing this game. I first saw some reviews and thought it might be a welcome change of pace from the other types of games I play. I've been hooked ever since, and have been catching up on the series through the uncut DVD sets. My only complaint with the game (if it's even that) is that there are way too many time-based, race objectives. Adding in a few more battle or platforming type objectives would have been good to see. Other than that, I love the game.
