Trick to rune upgrades?

I can't seem to get all three runes in the time allotted on some of the later rune upgrades. Is there some sort of trick to it?

There is no actual trick, just try activating them in different order, and obviously try to do it as quickly as possible. Some of them indeed require quite perfect timing.
