Although Bioshock has the first three down it lacks the fourth. Halo 3 on the other hand has the best multiplayer of any game, you can watch any campaign, co-op, or multiplayer match and then take screenshots and make video clips, then send them to people or put them in your Halo 3 sharefile for all to see. No other game does this, that IS innovation. Also the FORGE is unlike anything I've seen in another game. Halo 3 has some of the best graphics, a good story, and great gameplay of any game ever. That's why I chose Halo 3.

the story was great and there was alot time put into the over all game. The depth of the city and the people was awsome. It made want to explore everything and find out more about Rapture. Halo3's story line was junk and it seems that they put all there eggs in the multiplayer basket. Sorry but multiplayer don't make it game of the year.

Bioshock should be game of the year. I have 1000/1000 in both games.

Bioshock- set a new standard for FPS games as far as story, graphics, and multiple interesting ways of accomplishing the same task. Bioshock is truly a work of art and deserves every good thing said about it. Game is not ruined by 12 year olds and crap-talkers on MP cause there is no multiplayer.

Halo 3- mediocre campaign that is really only worth playing if you have friends. Extrememly dull by yourself. Multiplayer is tired and essentially the same as Halo 2. The game is just Halo 2 with new MP maps. Shotty Snipers is annoying to get 90% of the time. Mexican jumping beans and 12 year olds destroy any fun to be had online.

To all the people saying, that Halo has a crappy story, and bioshock has a better one should shut the eff up, because I'd bet they haven't even paid attention to Halo's story. All Bioshock has, are some crappy textures, stupid enemies, idiotic hypnotized Big Daddys, who won't let you out of doorways, and just a few, only a few moments, that make you go wow, like you get to beat up a special someone and then a special someone turns into a special someone and stuff like that.. Bioshock was way overhyped.

Halo 3 was fun for the typical FPS w/ multiplayer suite. However I appreciated Bioshock's concept and artistry much more.

Being an artist/designer myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the game's celebration of the Machine Age; indeed, capturing the very essence of the Art Deco style prevalent throughout the entire game.

Kudos to the developers @ 2K Games for a truly inspired game.

Bioshock is a rare, inspired and original piece of gaming that towers over most shooters. With a fresh, immersive story, an incredible gaming world and inovative new ideas that elevate the FPS genre (plasmids, anyone!?) to new heights and potential, Bioshock offers much more originality than Halo 3, which is a dated let-down by comparrison. Most people aggree that Halo 3's plot is, unfortunately, quite poor (with a hidden ending that shamlessly leaves the door open for a further sequel), that it's graphics are a good update of Halo 2's, though nothing more (and certainly not as good as Bioshock) and that it's single player campaign is criminally short and lacking. Halo 3's campaign offers little innovation, creativity or depth. Bioshock offers all three in abundance.

Bioshock's only potential failing is it's lack of multiplayer. Yet, it isn't a failure, It's a great decision. Bungie were so busy essentially creating two games the focus was lost, and both multiplayer and single player (especially) suffered. rather than overstretch themselves as Bungie have done, resulting in an uneven experience, 2K have focused their efforts on singleplayer and created a masterpiece.

The achievements set for Bioshock is greatly varied. They're fun to attempt and offer a great sense of accomplishment. They even encourage replay, as, depending on the choices you make, not all achievements are available first time round. The game is so versatile that replaying it to get these further achievements offers a uniquely different experience. It's just a shame I played Bioshock on my offline profile and can't show off my achievements to my friends! Halo 3's achievements, however, are very basic. From rookie mistakes, such as the simultaneous 'last level'/'completed game' achievements, to an achievement just for killing five enemies with a Needler (something which is so easy it's unlocked within the first few minutes of the game) Halo 3's achievement list is something you'd expect to see on one of the first 360 games. As for the skull/metascore achievements offering campaign replayability, not really. The skulls can now be collected on first play through thanks to online lists and they don't even require level completion. The metagame simply requires you to play the campaign again, but with no difference to offer fresh gameplay. Why bother when there are so many other worthy games to play also?

Well, that's my opinion.

Few people criticise Bioshock at all, yet opinion on Halo 3 is divided 50/50 amoungst gamers. That speaks for itself.

It takes more than an awesome single player (Bioshock wins this category hands down) to make the "Game of the YEAR". It takes an all around experience. You gotta have people spending countless hours playing for no obvious reason. You gotta have little kiddies, who shouldn't even have the game because its rated M, who yell at you over the mic. You gotta have all the weird fan videos of teabagging, barrel rolls, etc. You gotta have a weird ranking system that when people see what rank you are they tell you that you have no life. You gotta have maps so big that by the time you get to the other side of the map the game is over. You gotta have a lot of stuff to make the Game of the Year but most of all you gotta have fans lined up for hours before the release of the game just to get game goods!!!

But if I were Microsoft I would make Bioshock GOTY just for marketing reasons. Halo 3 is selling and will continue to sell just because its Halo 3. If Bioshock became GOTY it would sell a crapload more because some parents, gift givers, etc. don't really know what is what and will buy it just because it says "Game of the Year".

The reason in a nutshell: Bioshock is fresh while Halo 3 is just an addition to a pre-existing franchise. Also, the story line in Bioshock feels much more satisfying once completed, and to be honest I think Halo 2 had better online play than 3 does. Multiplayer in Halo 3 feels very imprecise which takes it down a peg in my book.

It has a 8-10 hour campaign that wraps up the epic story of Master Chief, and it does it well! The sound design and music just make it seem so real and awe-inspiring. The multiplayer has been fully realized and allows tons of customization. The Forge also allows entirely new maps, and variants. The graphics also continue to impress, while still retaining the Halo feel. Overall it is a masterpiece, worthy of all the praise it gets. If you haven't yet, I suggest you Finish the Fight.

Reason: It is a complete package and a great "Final" of the Halo Series (Although more Halo Related Titles are to come).

The single player is well done, and the levels are designed so its always fun and entertaining. The multiplayer feels well balanced and has quality map design.

To top everything off.. they included Multiplayer Co-Op Story Mode... Online.. up to 4 players. WoW!


Halo 2 had my vote for GOTY until I played Half-Life 2.. and Bioshock is great, but it doesn't have the depth that Halo 3 offers. We will still be playing Halo 3 until the next Halo multiplayer comes out - its the xbox's version of the pc's counterstrike.
