Have you gone back to Halo 2 yet because you miss it?

I for some reason had alot more fun playing Halo 2. Maybe its because I miss Ascension, or because it has more auto aim. But I had alot more fun playing Halo 2. Has anyone else gone back to Halo 2 yet?

Nope. I actually haven't been playing Halo 3 as much as I thought I would be.

Same. I'm so fucking done with Halo 3 already. It's not as fun as Halo 2 at all. I think the melee is what ruined the game for me especially after I found out how it works. I'm having way more fun with The Orange Box (which I have on PC and 360) Eternal Sonata, Overlord, Bioshock, and the mess of other games coming out soon are going to be awesome. Maybe I'll play a little more "Gaylo" if they make BTB Ranked and add more maps.

I find the GoW Multiplayer a lot more enjoyable. Gaylo is so boring to me now... Can't even be bothered to get the 85GP I have left to get.

lol, I hope you are joking. Gears of War multiplayer is as crappy as crappy gets! I mean come on, 4 v. 4, 4 game modes and what like 10 maps which all looked the same! Halo has 8 v. 8, decent map selection (will be more though) and at least has 10 game modes TO START! Gears was so overrated in my opinion. I rented it, then I borrowed it from a friend much later on, big disappointment!

I haven't went back to H2, and won't be going back anytime soon. H3 fixed everything I felt was wrong with H2. It's much more balanced. I'm still enjoying it and probably will for quite some time.

I think allot of the H3 dislike comes from guys who were awesome at H2. With the way H3 is set up, even a nub has a chance to grab a few kills. That's why I like it better (I suck anyway), where someone who kicked ass at H2 may not like it as much.

i am enjoying halo 3 quite a bit... halo 2 was more groundbreaking when it came out, and thus, seemed more enjoyable. not to mention how few games at the time actually had online play even remotely similar to it.

it will only get better, as it is an "everchanging entity" (as bungie says)...

if gears had more options--such as games with unlimited respawn like slayer in halo--i would play it just as much, due to its better style of graphics (i like it better, i mean) and whatnot. but it is too much shotgun/shotgun/round over. whereas halo has CTF, Oddball, KotH, Bomb, etc, etc...

i havent got back to H2 the modders and stand byers ruined it for me go to a legit 43 and in twos day got smacked down to a 27 :'( because of that crap so i dont think i will go back to H2

I'm probably never going back to Halo 2 because I was tired of it after playing it for an entire year. I know I'm not going to play Halo 3 that long. There are too many other games to play to be wating my time trying to rank up by winning 3000+ matches.

I like playing Halo 3 but I do miss some things from Halo 2. For one thing, the BR. Oh god how I miss you Halo 2 BR. Not only did it look cooler when holding it, but it was a lot more fun to use.

It's not as fun as Halo 2 at all. I think the melee is what ruined the game for me especially after I found out how it works.

Agree it isn't as fun to play as halo 2 but hopefully this game will be saved soon by adding new maps and game modes?!!

Ps how does the malee work then? cause this infuriates me at times when i hit people twice they don't die yet i get killed by a malee attack after one hit?!! so any tips would help, either that or it's something to do with lag again on these servers with host yet again having the advantage like on gears..

Halo may have more game modes, but Gears is still fundamentally a better game. Halo's all about twitchy trigger fingers and who has the better gun. To be good at Gears, you have to be a genuinely intelligent player. Only the complete noobs whore the shotgun. Any skilled player will only use the shotgun when it's necessary.

Halo's fun, don't get me wrong, but it's still the same damn game as Halo 1 and 2. And both those games were somewhat behind the times when they came out, they just had phenomenal presentation and a great online component.

Halo's too much like Quake and Doom for my tastes. Shooters are evolving, and Halo's staying in its comfort zone because Bungie's afraid to change the formula. Look at the difference between Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4. That's what a sequel should look like. Infinity Ward took a risk and changed their formula, and the end product is what will be hands down the best shooter to come out this year. And I say that having only played the Beta.

I'll explain it a little more in depth. When two people melee the person who has more health will always win regardless of who hit first. If you have less health and attempt to melee the other person even if you hit first it gives them a .33 second window to melee back and still win. It's honestly the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

GoW just has too much glitching. Chainsaw glitching, slide glitching, weapon glitching. Just too many different character moves to be exploited. Halo hasn't ever seemed to have that many cheating flaws. At least not that I've ran into personally.

I will never go back to Halo 2 ever. Gears I will start to get back into the action of going into private chats so i get into games with mates but as far as I'm concerned Halo 2 is a bygone for me. When H3 gets some more decent BTB maps then I'll play H3 more often.

Thats not true, if neither player fire a weapon first they both have equal shield and yet still this happens..

Halo may have more maps, but there is only about 3-4 maps that are actually good ones. In Gears, almost every map is excellent (at least playable). Despite its problems Gears is definitely better selection, can't wait until GoW 2 comes out.

No i won't go back to halo 2 because of all the cheaters. I dint know why everybody is hating on halo 3 its a fun game. As long as bungie keeps making new maps and games styles in it will bring lots of extra hours to people. That's my take on it anyways

Nobody likes you when you're on top. Much like your Niners or my Steelers. They were very much hated while they were on top. Once someone de-thrones the king that is Halo, it won't garnish so much hateful attention.

I would love to go back to halo 2, not to replace halo 3 but to just go back to "an old friend" and kill some people on some all too familiar maps. Halo 3 did fix many things that were wrong with halo 2 (i do miss my BxR) but one thing that they changed in halo 3 that I hate is the melee system. Too many times have i been killed from the front when my shields are full and my enemies are almost depleted. We melee at the same time and I die and he walks away unscathed. So I know to keep my distance with a battle rifle and grenades and I will be fine.

I just wish that they would fix the melee system in an update. Even halo 2 had to have its updates. Anyone remember the rocket/sword lunges across the maps? They even had to tweak the duel wielding because it was WAAAAAAY too powerful. So to those of you that are going to write off halo 3 because of its flaws, I implore you to wait because fixes will be made to the problems at hand. Don't expect it in a day or a week but over time I can see halo 3 matching its bigger brother in the online field. With more maps on the way and updates I'm sure, this will come together nicely.

Bungie also does a great job at continuously updating the matchmaking system so we don't have to continuously play the same matches over and over. They just fixed the shotty snipes problem; in my opinion, they should have nixed it from team slayer altogether and made it its seperate gametype either social or ranked. So, to wrap up this mini essay I say to those who are hating on halo 3, just wait and what is now a rock will soon turn to gold.

I liked Halo2, but I like Halo3 more. The melee system is a little broken, but I imagine they'll update it or something. I like Gears too, but I don't think it's really comparable. It's just different, not necessarily better or worse.

Remember when they updated the melee in Halo 2? They broke it worse. When Halo 2 shipped the melee worked fine.

Oh and to all the GoW fanboyism personally that game was fun for about 2 weeks and then it turned into repetitive nonsense. Honestly the campaign was 10x better.
