View Full Version : Archery
Since I now reside in Robin Hood country I did indeed partake in the gentlemanly sport of archery and took to it quite well. Two session in and I'm shooting a 24lb recurve bow at about 25-30 yards (it's more than you'd think) and still managing to get it in the middle circle.
But because there is a large group of people in the club there are the obligatory crappy people that manage to hit themselves. But generally it is quite easy to get the hang of it provided you have decent equipment and a good instructor. So I'd recommend giving it a go to anyone, it counts as a hunting sport too so you can go off to hunting grounds and shoot things in the face with arrows =)
Does anyone else let loose the arrows of mischief?

When I went on this adventure thing with my school we did archery. I found it exceptionally easy, hit the middle circle 5/5 times :D! But we were only shooting about 20 yards.
Only this morning, I shot an elephant. It was tresspassing on my safari. It reminded me of the hunt, jolly good show!
Sorry, that was me being random :)

I would love to try archery. One of the high schools in my district has an archery class for part of the gym class. Too bad I won't be going to that school, but another school. I think archery would be pretty entertaining.

I also think archery would be so beast but have never tried. I do think I would like to try long range shooting first. Just because in every shooter game out there I'm that guy who you don't see popping off your head. So it would be great to see if i could long range something in real life.

I tried archery once on holiday , i missed like every shot and have never played it since :)
It's usually down to how the bow is set up if you keep missing, but it isn't entirely the equipments fault if you miss. The things you can do on holiday usually use really cheap and nasty bows, so you shouldn't be too disheartened if you were a bit crap at it =)
I have a tournament on Wednesday to decide if I can both join the Novice shooting team and shoot in another official, regional tournament on Sunday =o I just hope all the crap people show up.

I'm not sure what the proper attire is for an archery meet (whatever they're called) but you should sport some x360a clothing.
Heck, if anything your outfit might distract the others.
A little more related, the only bow I've ever shot was some hunting at an ex-girlfriends house when I was trying to bond with her father. Ended up making an ass of myself and losing a good amount of arrows. Shit's a lot harder than it looks IMO.

I have an English Longbow which I love to play with. It is like a weapon of mass destruction in my hands. Just go outside and fire at random trees in the forest. I like to pretend that I am using an Anti Tank Rifle when I am firing the Bow. Considering how it destroys the trees I aim at it is frightening to thing what such a weapon could do to person.

Did it once on the isle of white and i was like 11 and got the inner circle twice and the outer one once from like 10 yards. Only me and my mate managed to get it twice so i was happy. All we were given is a wrist strap thingy which is the technical terminology for that equipment. :)

You can wear whatever you want except for open toed footwear. Because an arrow going at 250+ kmph can't possibly get through the toe fabric of a shoe =P I would think about wearing x360a stuff, but team members get to wear team shirts so maybe x360a could 'sponsor' me and I'll just cover all the boring bits with logos.
=D I got into the team, shot a 312 which is my new (and only) personal best. I bet you're all proud.
