The Mets are an embarrassment to baseball. How pitiful are they. Up 7 games over the Phillies with around 14 games to play and they don't make the playoffs.

I'm no Mets fan, but that's just bad baseball. And Glavine, christ, 7 runs in the 1st inning?

Disgusted.

Maybe the only worse choke than this was the 2004 ALCS between the Yanks and Boston, NY was up 3 games to none and the Sox won the series and the World Series.

yeah that was a pretty bad choke, but what do they care? most of them have multi-million dollar contracts(glavine, reyes, beltran, wright).i know it's a shitty way to look at it, but its the truth. professional sports is a joke anymore. it's not about playing the game, it's about getting paid.

i'm sorry, but with the amount of talent that the mets have, they should have been killing people left and right. just like the tigers last year. and the yankees the last 2 or 3 years.

i agree with you somewhat. some care about the game, some care about both the game and the money, but it all boils down to who wants it more. and obviously the mets don't care about going to the playoffs. or they were just overconfident.

well, i mean when i was little, i played basketball, football, and baseball. it wasn't about who won or lost, it was about having fun playing the game. now yes, granted, you do have some people who care about winning, but they're few and far between anymore.

Are you kidding me? The odds of the Mets not making the playoffs was 500 to 1. They blew a 7 game lead in 16 games. That has choke written all over it.

I can't believe the Mets blew a lead like that. All season, I think they were doing exceptionally well. They simply collapsed. Sorry Mets fans. Maybe next year...

I kind of always knew the Mets would blow it(well, up until that 7 game lead and when the Phillies blew a six run lead in the 8th inning to lose to the Braves; the season had to be over at that point), but I thought the Braves would catch them after the trade deadline.

I think the worst part of it all is that the Mets were playing some of the worst teams in baseball when they blew it.

I think the worst part of it all is that the Mets were playing some of the worst teams in baseball when they blew it.

I think [my opinion] that's WHY they choked, they got cocky and thought they could breeze through the very last games of the season. They did it to themselves though.

Mets fans kicked Yankee fans around all year. All I would hear is "Look who's in 1st place!!" or "...but who has the better record?!"

Yes the Yankees stunk early but look who turned it around to get in? And yes they blew a 3-0 lead in The playoffs 2 years ago. But the Mets blew a 7 game lead with 2 weeks left to play. Losing 4 straight is One thing....but DAMN!!! Getting pelted everyday for 2 weeks? The Mets just poured glue on themselves.

Just shows you how crazy baseball is for ya. Shit look at the cardinals, we had one shitty year even last year wasnt good but some how we came away champs. But the two years before we had 100 win seasons and choked in the playoffs and the world series. The game is crazy like that, ya never no what is going to happen.

Shit in high school we were number 2 in the state with a 21 and 3 recored and lost in the first round of districts to a team we had beaten 3 times already (2 of those were 10 runned). I know we came in cocky, even our coachs didnt pitch who we should have bc they wanted to save our lil freashman Tim Mehlville ;) (for anyone who follows baseball you may know that name) for the championship. You just cant do things like that in ball especially when it comes down to the wire. Play every game like its your last, that is how the game should be played. Sadly its not and that is why i hardly pay any attention to the MLB :(

Sucks for the Mets but at the same time they did it to themselves so i dont have that much pitty for them.

Biggest choke...Rockies right now. They arn't playin good baseball right now. No run production, pitching in the shitter. etc.
