RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police said two women dressed as ninjas were responsible for the hold-up of a Richland Township gas station Saturday morning using a samurai sword.

Police said the two women -- one with a dagger, and the other carrying the sword -- entered a Sunoco station in the 5600 block of Route 8 at about 3 a.m.

According to police, the women tied up the clerk and robbed the store of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

"They were all covered in black and carrying swords, so it did appear that they were dressed like ninjas," said Chief Robert Amman of the Northern Regional Police Department. "Swords, daggers could be used to seriously harm victims, so this is a very serious crime."

Police said the clerk was not harmed and is OK.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

Rick Lekki said it was hard for him to believe that a robbery occurred across the street from his business, R and J's bar.

"It's shocking. Things like that just don't happen out here. I just can't believe it happened," Lekki said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

I feel bad for the ninjas. Ever since the 80's there has been less and less work for them as action movies have been on the decline.

It's easy to see how a once proud star of American Ninja IV faced with no work and hoplessness could turn to a life of crime.

We need a helpline or some kind of shelter for them. So they don't run amuck.

Those bitches stole my idea; except I was going to use nunchucks and ninja stars. Not sure why they'd want to go for lotto tickets, aren't those marked? And being as I'm not a smoker (except for a nice Macanudo cigar once in a while) I would have taken beer and hard liquor. Oh and I'd have knocked over a 7-11, they're used to it.

I'd pay to have been that store clerk.

Ninjas these days are so pathetic. Pirates were doing this long ago and they even did it with parrots and peg-legs. Obviously jumping around in pyjamas isn't enough for the little fellas any more so they go and steal other people's ideas.

I can only speak for New York, but yes, they are marked. Every scratch-off has a unique number, and if one is marked as stolen, the Lotto center will immediately know if it's been cashed or even scanned, and cops will swoop down. If it's for enough money that it needs to be brought to a claim center, whoever tries to cash it will leave the building in handcuffs. Lotto printed tickets can actually be voided, so its useless to try to steal them.

Where I went to college in Missouri we had a guy rob Wal-Mart with a broad sword and a pellet gun it was pretty hilarious

That is a pretty random mix of weaponry, couldn't he find a medieval style trebuchet on wheels? Imagine how easy you could rob a bank if you just started a siege and fired rotting livestock in through the chimney until they gave up or made a film about it. If anyone asks what you are doing, renaissance fayre.

We know, but it's still worth laughing about anyway. And I give them props for using ninja-esque clothing and weapons; what better way to catch people off guard?

LMAO....I used to go to school down in that area and have been to that Sunoco before. If I were working there...I would have been dying of laughter. I would have sat down on the counter and watched as I pissed myself laughing...
