View Full Version : TIP for SUPER EASY completion of time trials

I saw something like this on another forum however while playing the game I found a way to streamline it to make it even easier.
Steps for Super Easy Time trials:
1. Complete Game on whichever difficulty you would like.
2. Go to level select and select whichever level you would like to do time trial on.
3. Go to select difficulty and select time trial.
4. Start game and you should have a countdown timer in the lower right hand corner of screen.
5. Press start and exit out of level back to main menu.
6. Select the same level you were just playing. DO NOT edit anything, and DO NOT reselect Time Trial. Just select the same level and hit continue.
7. Start level and you should NOT have a timer in the lower right hand corner.
8. Play level at whatever speed you want to.
9. IMPORTANT NOTE: The first time you die after following this procedure, when you reload from the last checkpoint the timer will start, SO, if you make it to the very end of the level, or even to the middle of the level without dying, you have a BIG head start.
10. DO NOT finish the level without dying. If you do not die and you make it to the end of the level, kill yourself in any means necessary before you cross into the final cut scene of each level.

or you could just enter the 1 hit kill also :P after beating the very last level end boss in time trial you unlock the 1 hit death cheat, that was funn

well, I wish I would have known that a few days ago! I did the game on hard, doing the time trials for each level after I completed each level. Some were pretty tough, but satisfying. The one hit kill would have helped too, but as this was my first tomb raider game, I found it pretty fun and challenging to do it straight.

These tips are great - thanks. I am really enjoying playing through the game and want the full 1000 G's but dunno if I can be arsed to replay the levels over and over until I get the achievement. Maybe I'll try to do it the proper way first and if I get bored I'll use the cheat/exploit.... ;)

the tip does work (you have to die once to get the timer running again!) and will get you the achievements,
... BUT you will not get the bonus outfits if you use this method! to get the outfits, you have to really beat the time trials!

i say do the last one, since it gives you more then enough time, and gives you the one hit kill cheat, then when you are doing the other ones when theirs a big gun fight, like the beginning of kazakhastan, it takes about 45 seconds to get through it, instead of like 2 minutes

Yeah, I barely ever shot at anything because it was pointless. The point to time trail was landing the jumps and not falling. NOT killing people...
This would be rendered useless to me.
And it's nice to know that there is a glitch for time trials after I busted my ass on them.
Oh, that's right. I'm suposidly the guy who cheated on the time trials because some new jack sucked to bad to get them.

I decided to try this glitch out on the last time trial I had and found that it does in fact work and you do get the extras such as the bonus outfits.

Okay, I don't like this game very much, and since I started it tho, I'm gonna finish it and get the points anyway....
So, I'm a lil confused....after I start the match and quit and respawn or whatever and the clock is on, do I have to die while the clock is on or just die to turn the clock on????

I used this glitch to beat all of the Time Trials, even Bolivia Redux, and I haven't gotten the "Completed All Time Trials" Achievement.
Is this glitched? Or do I need to beat each level legit in time trial mode for that to unlock?

Help!!! I can't get this to work! I'm not sure if the game has been patched or not. I updated once, months ago. It prompted me to update the game again today but I didnt do it. I cant figure this out. If anyone could provide some info on whether this glitch is still possible it will be much appreciated. All I have left for the game is the time trials. Thanks.

If you can figure out a way to delete the patch it would be awesome. I dont like this 880 in my game list. I could probably get them legit if I put the time into clearing that Nepal mission first and gettin the one shot kill cheat but I just dont find it worth trying at the moment. Not for 120 points and not when there are still so many games I havent got around to yet. There is one way that I'm sure would work but I dont want to do: You could just recover your gamer tag on a friends console that doesnt have the game or hasnt updated their console with the patch. Right??? The only time I did a recover GT I was only at like 8000 gamerscore. Since then I've learned from the Xbox website that its risky or some shit.
This is on the Xbox.com site:
"Important
We do not recommend that you recover your gamertag to a friend's console as a convenience when roaming—you could lose your saved games. Instead, use an Xbox 360 Memory Unit (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360memoryunit64mb/default.htm) to take your profile with you when you play on someone else's system. "
I dont know exactly what they mean but that just bugs me out enough to never do it again. Plus, I think if you have a huge amount of gamer points it takes forever to transfer the data.

I think you can do a system reset sort of thing I want to say it is like holding down almost all the buttons on the 360 controller. That is how you delete your patches, look in the frogger arcade forum. I know it is posted in there because I was looking into doing it for that game as well. I can't remember at the moment but yeah I am determined to get 1250 in this game so let me know if you try reseting it...got this from the frogger forum same principal though..let me know it it works man!
Actually, you can delete updates without formatting the whole hard drive:
"Go to the system blade and then memory. Press Y on either the HDD or a MU and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a blade will pop up saying: This will perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices and ask if you wish to continue.
Unfortunately this will clear all of your game updates and is not a selective process meaning you cannot just un-do one game at a time."
Therefore, you can delete updates without harming any game saves, but you will have to reupdate every game you have the next time you play it. I have done this myself with no problems.
Now that i've typed all that, this is all a moot point because you will have to redownload the update the next time you play Frogger, which puts you back where you started. But this may help others with different issues.

This glitch doesnt work for me even after I clear my cache, its drivin me crazy. I've cleared it 5-10 times over the last couple weeks or so, kept popping Tomb Raider in, I follow the instructions in the guide... I tried everything, it just doesnt want to work for me.
Edit: The glitch wouldnt work any way that I tried it. The cache clearing trick didnt help either. Eventually I deleted my file and started over and its finally working. The only thing that I can think of is that somehow my save file itself was storing the patch. My experience might be rare but maybe it will help someone with the same problem.

This is happening to me too! I have done everything from taking my MU to another console not connected to Live, and clearing my cache. Maybe I'll try going to deleting my game save once I beat the game on hard finally. Let me know if you guys get this to work by starting a new save. Let us know!

I think you should be good if you never installed any of the patches, I know there were at least two of them. I installed the first one but not the second and it wouldnt work. The only way I could get it to work was to delete my save file completely and start from scratch.

I actually didn't find it hard to get those time trials the legit way... But maybe that is because I played it on the original xbox too. You just have to keep moving through the levels, and kill as less enemies as possible. If you do have to beat some enemies: do the slowmotion-matrix-thing-jump onto them. The timer will slow down and you kill your enemies quicker. Hope this helps!!

I've never been able to get the glitch to work but I only have two more levels left and never have had to restart from too much time taken. Just go to Bolivia Redux and get one shot one kill cheat. Use that for EVERY TRIAL and make sure you know where to go, you don't have to do if very fast but if you have levels with bosses and a lot of enemies, you can save around 5 minutes. The only one I kind of pushed was Kazakhstan because it's hard to rush near the end of that level but it's not that hard.
Seriously guys, the achievements are so easy to get with that cheat, you don't need the glitch. This is my first TR game and I flew by them.
biochem411
04-19-2008, 01:18 AM
You can get through Kazakhstan quickly by bypassing a large part of the level. When you get to the large room with the Tesla gun (that quickly runs out of energy), do not slide down the ramp to continue on. Instead blow up the two barrels that lie next to the gun. Then push a metal crate to where the barrels were, up against the railing. You can then jump from the crate to the hanging platform and across......saves a huge amount of time! I finished this level with about 10 minutes left in time trial as a result of this shortcut.

TO THOSE WHO WANT TO DO THE TIME TRIALS WITH THE "GLITCH" METHOD:
You're going to need to delete your TR: Legend save file completely off of your HD. I realized this sad fact after receiving some help from Phrozan (who did not have the same trouble as I did with this glitch btw). Basically, if you've played Legend in the past (very old game), and you've downloaded any of the past xbox live updates... (or maybe just a specific update in particular, I'm not 100% sure, there were a couple of updates issued) ...The update/(s) will somehow "embed" the part of the patch that corrects the time trial glitch, DIRECTLY into your save file. The cache-clearing "trick", in this case, WILL NOT work. I tried everything I could think of with no luck. I'd completed up to 880/1000 and eventually moved on to other games because the time trials were frustrating the hell out of me (just very unforgiving time limits, IMO, others seem to have no trouble with them). I came back to try and finish it off a few months later when I learned about the glitch but I couldnt get it to work for the life of me. So... if you're like me, you'll probably feel a lil apprehensive about deleting your save file when you have countless hours poured into all that bronze/silver/gold collectible hunting. Unfortunately, it's the only option, in my experience (...at least your achievements will remain though, and that's what counts ;)). If you have never played Legend before, this glitch should definately work for you with NO problems. Just DO NOT install ANY of the xbox live updates, and make sure you play the game offline.
Everyone else: If you're dead-set on finishing up that last 120 points...
- First, delete your Tomb Raider Legend save file completely off of your HD/memory device :(.
Next, for good measure, clear the cache on your Xbox 360 console by doing the following:
- go to your Xbox 360 dashboard, and go to the "system blade"
- now select "memory"
- from the screen you're at now, press the "Y" button (device options?)
- finally, press the following sequence of buttons on your controller:
" X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X " ...
... a message will appear on a tab that slides onto your screen from the right - "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage device?" ... Say Yes.
This will clear junk out of your cache, and also any title updates for every game on your system. It won't clear any gamesaves or anything important like that though, so don't worry. It also won't clear any game DLC or add-on content packages, for example Shivering Isles, ect.
Now for your last step: Replay the entire TR: Legends game....:(.... unlocking the time trial for each level. You'll have to do this offline as well since, in order to play it on xbox live, you will be forced to install the updates. At least it's an easy game though, if you happen to be one of the unfortunate souls such as myself that are on their second play.
If it makes anybody feel any better: I had to play this gem nearly 3 times, lol. On my first game, curiosity got the better of me and I pulled one of the infamous cage-levers in England at the Leviathon/Water Monster boss before entering the crypt puzzle area...... Save file corrupted . Then on my second game I went through and finished everything except for the time trial achievements and I put the game away so I could play some other stuff (re-collecting all the bronze/silver/gold rewards that I'd already found 1st play, plus the final few I had remaining before my file was corrupted....ugh). Then, finally a few months later, a 3rd play for the time trials.
Quick Note (obviously): Follow the instructions on how to actually perform the time trial "glitch" by searching the previous posts around here (it's probably in the first page of posts on this thread). Hope my explanation helps someone.:)

All I had to do was clear my cache, but I only created a new save file today. I'm glad I don't have to play through it again, but it wouldn't be so bad, I just finished it in 2 hours 54 minutes, which is nothing.
