If the item is not paid for with Buy it Now it will ship according to ebay's standard policy with a 5 day processing time.Basically unless someone paid $750 for it, he wasn't going to ship it until the 25th... I'm guessing he did indeed have a copy on hand, because he guaranteed delivery by the 20th with Buy-it-Now, but come on.. what a douchebag.
Edit: It didn't meet whatever reserve he had on it, by the way. The bidding ended at $162.

Douchebag, yes, but also smart. You know some little kid is going to beg and plead his parents to get it.

That's pretty funny, I could buy 5 legendarys @ that price, I would rather have 5 helmets then get it 5 days early. ;)

No what annoys me even MORE? People who advertise the Halo 3 Beta with Crackdown when they're trying to sell the game. I mean, unless you've been living under a rock for the past 6 months, you'd realize the beta is over.
And yeah, I wish someone did Buy-It-Now, and didn't pay, I would've made an account and done that had I seen this earlier. ;)
The Douche, put that message in only 4 hours before the bidding ended. I wouldnt pay him if I had won, and the reason would be good enough.

This reminds me of a story I heard years ago, when a kids parents bought a ps2 for him for Christmas off of eBay. The description was "You are getting the picture here". Turns out to be one expensive picture. Imagine that kids face when he opens up a giant package thinking its an actual ps2...to only turn up tons of packing foam and a picture.

K, I must be missing something.
You can still reserve copies of Halo 3, so it's not like it's sold out.
So the only logical reason to buy it for his RIDICULOUS asking price is to get it early, but $50 says he's a douche anyway, since lots of stuff I've bought off ebay I've gotten like 2 weeks later, so I wouldn't gamble that much on it.
Third, even if the planets did align and you had it early, the second your achievements load up early, Microsoft will be bringing the damn hammer down. If they ban until 9,999 for downloading a demo, imagine what the ban would be for early release of product

The buyer would not get banned because he did nothing wrong, He legally bought the game, therefore if he was to get banned, he would sue and become rich.

What parent in their right f'n mind would agree to buy their kid that game at that price just a week before its actually released? I know parenting has changed since I was a little kid, but I don't believe it could have changed so much that parents would fork over hundreds of dollars for a single video game when they can simply shell out a few twenties the following week for the same product.
The seller is joking themselves with this one, I just wish there were regulations on these type of auctions.

A lot of parents are really REALLY ignorant when it comes to games though. They'd rather spend the money to keep the kid quiet than actually look into what they're buying.
