View Full Version : Chri Benoit had serious brain damage at time of murder/suicide

ABC News is confirming that tests conducted by Julian Bailes of the Sports Legacy Institute show that Chris Benoit’s brain was severely damaged at the time he murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. According to the tests his brain resembled that of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient. Bailes said that the damage was the result of lifetime chronic concussions and head trauma.
Chris Benoit was famous for his flying headbutt, which is a lot of stress on the brain each time the maneuver is pulled off. While nothing can justify his actions, this at least helps the coping process.
Hmmm, makes the situation seem a little bit different.

If you were to also read more on that, you would also find that the Dr. who did the test said that there is no, i repeat no conclusive evidence to say that this had any affect on the murders/suicide. He stated very clearly that he was not going to make an assumption to that fact. This doesn't prove anything. Same as the testosterone in his system...

Not to me. Alzheimer's doesn't make you kill people. If it was Schizophrenia or worse then I could understand why my opinion should change.

Any more excuses for this guy? I'm not buying this, I find this pretty stupid. He killed because he wanted to kill, end of story.

In a story that could change the whole view of the Benoit tragedy, Chris Benoit's father will be doing several media appearances offering some shocking new information.
Michael Benoit claims that Chris Benoit had some Neurological scans of his brain, which have revealed he had post concussion syndrome and a condition called Frontal Lobe Syndrome.
Frontal Lobe Syndrome causes emotional and social withdrawal, outbursts of rage and violent behavior.
If this is confirmed it partially reliefs Benoit of his crimes, because in essence he had brain damage. This would also put part of the blame on the wrestling schedule as these disorders are attributed to repeated blows to the head.
We'll follow this story closely and get word on Michael Benoit's TV appearances.
Never Even Heard of this before

What the fuck is your problem? I'm sorry, but this statement offends me greatly. Do you even watch wrestling? Did you even know who Benoit is before he appeared on Fox News and CNN? What the fuck do you know? He killed because he wanted to kill? You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and that has to be the DUMBEST statement I've heard in some time.

Ya, the whole skinny people thing isn't gonna work buddy. I mean, look at the Miz, he's getting MAJOR pushes in ECW and he's a little guy. I've met him in person and he's not that big at all. Look at Ric Flair! That is the saggiest man I've ever seen and he's one of the greatest wrestler of all time. He's not skinny, but he's not buff. He's flabby lol. So, that whole no skinny people in wrestling comment shouldn't be made anymore. I'm tired of hearing shit like that.

I am very glad to be finding out more information about the Chris Beniot incident, I would love to have conclusive proof that he was ill and didn't know what he was doing or whatever you know what I mean. I ask of people to keep updates in this thread if possible, such aswhat Michael Beniot has to say.

Wow, I don't watch wrestling regularly or anything but i used to, and there is still no excuse for what he did. It doesnt matter if you liked him or not. He killed 2 people, and then himself. Sega was right, there is no excuse. for all the swearing and questions you asked him about knowing anything and telling him he's wrong, you never said anything to show that you're right.

Ever since I first heard about what he did I always had that 1% of doubt that MAYBE there is something here we don't know. Info is still coming out, how do we know he wasn't mentally disturbed or something. There are a few mental disorders that literally force you into doing/thinking something you can't control.
I just heard on the news here in Canada that someone in Toronto had this rare mental disorder that made him think his wife and daughter were imposters.
There is no excuse for what he did, but maybe with all this new info coming out that something will come out to ease the hate for Benoit.

I don't need anything to show I'm right because there is no certainty to what is right, especially the statement that "HE KILLED BECAUSE HE WANTED TO KILL." That had to be the biggest crock of shit I have heard in this whole incident with Benoit. Why would Benoit kill his wife and son, the only two people that heard the words, "I love you," out of that man's mouth? There have been rumors that Kevin Sullivan murdered Benoit and his family and then framed Benoit to make it look like a double murder suicide. There have been rumors that said his depression built up so much that he snapped. There have been rumors that he was on medication when he commited the acts he did. No one knows anything for sure and no one will probably find out. He didn't just decide to kill his family. Something happened to make him do that, even if he actually killed his family and then himself (referring to the Kevin Sullivan rumor.) I'm really sick and tired of all of this stereotypical bullshit that is revolving around Benoit and, WWE's drug suspensions, steroids, and fakeness.
@ TheRealist50,
Thank you! You are a person that knows what he is talking about.

I just wanted to point out to the people who said they wanna see evidence, LOOK AT MY POST. They are plenty of small people in WWE. I will name 6 top stars who are small. HBK, Y2J, CM Punk, Rey, Paul London and Brian Kendrick,
@ JJBDude - I will def. be listing stuff that he has said.
EDIT : Another thing I found about Benoit
Benoit also suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder. They're saying At the time of the killings, Benoit was not himself, but a completely different person. Chris' father said that he like to watch shows like 24 and maybe he took them a little too seriously.

I didn't know there was skinny people damn...don't blow up....i havent watch this inbred soap-opera trash since the good old days when i was like 7....roddy piper and guys like him. When i think of names i knew...the rock, steve austin, kane and the undertaker...all huge guys....and yes other guys are smaller but they are still ripped just in a smaller way....except for ric flair....but isn't he like 90 years old?!?!
I'm not stereotyping wrestlers as being " dope-heads" and steroid guys...read the news bro....10 people were suspended due to the drugs and it is just like baseball and football only 1000x worse. Read the news before you say that people are stereotyping. I'm not saying every wrestler does...i'm saying that Benoit did. Period. Not all of them. God damn.

It doesn't only offend Smokez, but it offends me and probably Nick and Jonny also. Jonny would probably go ape shit if he saw any of these threads. Oh, and you told me to read the news? Don't you think being an avid wrestling watcher that I read the wrestling news EVERY DAY!? It's you that has your facts wrong and you that needs to read the news. Also, when did anyone say ANYTHING about Benoit being on drugs? NEVER! If you haven't noticed, Benoit's been dead for about 2 months and they just released a 10 man list of suspensions because of drugs. I don't know if you think Benoit was one of the people that got suspended, but who knows? We already know you don't follow wrestling, so this could be news to you. They found drugs in his system, but they were prescription and said they had absolutely nothing to do with the so called "double murder suicide." Again, get your facts right.

I don't see how you are validating your case at all J Lo.....you're saying that I need to read the news...yet you say i'm stereotyping wrestlers as steroid users....less than a week after 10 of them get suspended for the same thing i am accusing them of doing. If i'm understanding your "case", you are negating your own points in your argument itself. And yes i read the news too...i'm talking about Benoit's elevated levels of Testosterone. Only a few ways produce the levels he had in his body, most of which aren't legal....
And sorry if i offended anyone but come on. Let's be realistic. Daytime TV is soap-opera garbage which 90% of is followed by women. Wrestling is nighttime soap-opera garbage that is watched 90% by rednecks. You're telling me that in todays societal norms if you are in high school or college, and you walk into your particular area with a wrestling shirt on, you AREN'T going to be the kid everyone ignores and writes off as an idiot. 1. You say you are not trying to offend anyone, then you blatantly try to offend 90% of wrestling fans by calling them rednecks.
2. I wear wrestling shirts all the time and I'm not the kid everyone ignores and I am not written off as an idiot. I am actually written as one of the smartest kids in my grade level seeing as I am capable of scoring a score of 1600 or over on the SAT's as a Sophmore in high school.
3. Hooray for wrestling is fake stereotypes! If you knew anything, you would know that wrestling is CHOREOGRAPHED (planned out if that is too big of a word for you) and is not fake. Sure, some punches and kicks may be fake here and there, but watch Hardcore Holly vs. Rob Van Dam in ECW and watch Holly slit his back open 9 inches across his back from a table and then tell me that wrestling's fake.
4. I'm 14 years old, not a redneck, and I am aware that wrestling is CHOREOGRAPHED, not fake.
5. Yes, I do follow wrestling religiously, do you have a problem with that? Also, my hair isn't mullet style. Try again.

AND AGAIN...i'm not saying that YOU people are rednecks. i'm saying that a majority of the wrestling population is. You have obviously watched wrestling on tv. Look through the fucking crowd. How many crazy redneck people do you see. It's like Nascar. Yes i watch Nascar races now and again. I'm not saying that i'm a redneck but i like watching races. Stop using a transitive property saying that since i called a majority of wrestlers rednecks that you guys are automatically rednecks. I never claimed to watch wrestling before and stopped because people called me a redneck either. Where the hell did you get that? i never said it. You're putting words in my mouth trying to make me look like a dick, when in fact you are making an ass of your-self. Don't call me an asshole unless i say Smokez, YOU are a redneck.
Congrats that you scored a 1600 on your SATs man. I'm really happy for you. So you are booksmart, awesome. I scored a 1390 on them in high school, a 35 on my ACTs and last September i took my LSAT's, in which i scored a 169. Spell out words for me again too buddy. I'm a Freshman at Villanova School of Law so i think i'm capable of handling myself with your words. Stop talking like you're the coolest person in your class because you wear wrestling shirts and are smart. Awesome. All i'm saying is that in my high school. If you didn't wear abercrombie, you were a nobody. Period.
And with your last point again. You try to translate everything i said into it being allll about you. READ you fucking idiot. I said 90% seem to be rednecks. I NEVER said, everyone in here who likes wrestling is a redneck. Stop putting words in my mouth before you make yourself look like a bigger asshole than you already have.
And finally back to Smokez....i'm not claiming i could kick their asses you dumbass, i'm saying that it is FAKE. It's the same thing as choreographed (if i used that term properly, because apparently i'm not smart enough to know what it means). They take "punches" and do backflip bullshit in which they curl their bodies so that it looks like they are landing on their opponent, however are landing on their knees and elbows. Then some bitch flops around to make it look real...jesus christ...it's like watching and Italian soccer game. So for the third time...please smokez...put more words in my mouth. I love reading the shit I "said", however when i look back at my posts, it's mysteriously gone....hmm....interesting....
Sorry to digress from the topic (you might need to look up digress, it's more of a challenging word than choreographed) and i never intended to offend anyone, however some people see it fit to assume that i said one thing when in reality i said nothing of the sort.
EDIT: J Lo, i just noticed that you said hardcore holly cuts his back 9 inches on the back. It's fake you idiot. It's what they used to do in the old days. They would cut themselves with a razor above the eyebrow and let it heal slightly so that when they went out in the ring and someone "punched" them, it would start bleeding again. You even contradicted yourself in your post while trying to be a dick to me. You said it's not fake, it's choreographed. Then the next sentence you said, well some punches and kicks are fake. Get your story straight before you try to flame me bro.
If you are not calling Smokez and I rednecks, then why would you even bring up the "fact" that 90% of wrestling fans are rednecks in a thread about Benoit's situation? Explain that for me please.

Haha, it's fake, good one. How about you watch the match and tell me how he could have managed to cut his back like that? That cut was not supposed to happen, but it did anyways.
If I were you, a 22 year old Freshman in Law School, I would stop arguing with a 14 year old trying to sound smarter than him (which you probably are, so why do you have to prove it, to make you seem superior?) I mean, calling someone 8 years younger than you an idiot is like a parent calling his or her infant son stupid for not knowing anything. It makes no sense at all.

I'm not arguing with you, i'm just defending my position. You are coming at me with these claims of shit i said that i simply cannot seem to find them in my posts. Take from this what you want but i'm not going to match wits with a kid. You attacked me for "saying" something that i didn't, i defended myself. Then you attacked me for my intelligence, i defended myself. Not once was i arguing, only defending my position. It's a 2 way street buddy. You're gonna call someone out, expect some shit flying back at you.
and maybe the cut was an accident. Shit like that happens. How about a few years ago when that one guy fell from the rafters onto the turnbuckle and died in a pay-per-view event. Accidents happen. But more often than not it is set-up to make it look more realistic. That's all i'm saying.
God damn you people are like vultures. You jump on anything that someone says and construe it into whatever you see fit and then ostracize them for an opinion....settle the fuck down...let me say my piece and don't think that everything i'm saying is about you.

You still didn't answer why you even brought up the "fact" that 90% of wrestling fans are rednecks. Look at the title of the thread. Do redneck fans and "Chri Benoit had serious brain damage at time of murder/suicide" have ANYTHING to do with each other? Why did you even say that? Why did you think this was the right place to say that? Okay, so you really didn't call Smokez and I rednecks and I myself am sorry for putting words in your mouth, but if you never brought up that "90% of wrestling fans are rednecks" garbage, we wouldn't be having this conversation now, would we?
The reason why Smokez and I are jumping all over everyone is because a lot of bad stuff is currently happening in WWE and this is shedding its face on x360a. We have been receiving stereotypical comments in most of the posts are we were getting sick and tired of it because people are instantly accusing people of stuff they didn't do. For example, when the 10 person suspension list was posted, the title was "10 WWE wrestlers suspended due to steroids." That, of course, is a stereotype in saying that they were suspended for drugs, but the drugs were automatically steroids. Only one person was suspended because of steroids and that was Ken Kennedy (who openly admitted it.)
Another example was the Benoit death thread that I posted. The first comments I received were along the lines of "it probably had something to do with steroids," and, "he probably overdosed." Again, stereotype.

Why don't you stop looking at wrestling as what its not meant to be and start looking at wrestling as what it really is...entertainment.
not everybody likes the same things...some people love the UFC because its a rough physcial sport, some people hate it because its too rough, so what?
Some people like baseball because its a game of science and some people hate it because its not physical and boring, so what?
Some people love Halo because its a good game some people hate it because its nerdy, so what?
People hate wrestling because its fake...but you fail to realize wrestling is not meant to be real, its meant to be entertainment and guess what...it delivers. But what is real in wrestling is the injuries...the risks and the rewards.
but I guess all those narrow minded people can't get past the fact that its "fake".

If you would have read the entire way up, my original post had nothing to do with rednecks. I said that skinny people more or less have no place in wrestling simply because of the sports nature. I didn't refer to rednecks until my 3rd post after i had been attacked for an opinion. I called the sport inbred trash. Which is my OPINION. I know people won't be happy with my idea of the sport, however i never said people who watch it are inbred trash, i said the sport in itself is inbred trash. Then i got flamed because my first amendment freedom doesn't hold up in this forum. After that, i then said stereotyping is shitty but will anyway and that a majority of the fans are rednecks, just like nascar (which i myself am a fan, however not in that group). I mean come on. Go to an event. If you have EVER been to a race, if someone isn't holding a Bud, have full team colors on from their favorite driver, and have half their teeth...then you went to a special race my friend. Same goes for what wrestling is. It's a soap-opera. So i never referred to rednecks until my 3rd post after i had been flamed twice for my opinion. how come you're hell-bent on calling me out when my first 2 posts were topic related in itself?
and again...now i'm being called narrow minded. I love it. I'm not denying the fact that it is meant to be entertainment. It is FAKE so that it CAN be entertainment. If it were real, it would be a UFC sort of deal, only with a shitload more injuries. If you too had read buddy, i said that injuries happen. read my post on the guy who died a few years back...shit happens this i know. And it's blatantly obvious it's entertainment, and that is why i relate it to a soap-opera of sorts. Flame me again bro...when you have no basis to your argument and are speaking out your ass
however i never said people who watch it are inbred trash, i said the sport in itself is inbred trash.
It may not seem you are saying the people who watch it are inbred trash, but both Jonny x360a and I watch it and we both perform in it. Jonny did some Indie work I believe, so he's real serious about this stuff and I did some minor work in wrestling. Even though you don't know it, you just in fact did call us inbred trash.

You try saying that you never called me a redneck but your using your stereo-typing BS. You said seem in your 6th post. But in your 3rd post you said 90% ARE rednecks.
When I was in high school I was a total Prep. My group I hung out with in and out of school would go to the bar and watch the PPVs sometimes. I didn't get ignored and neither did they. You get flamed because you make stereotypical comments about something you know nothing about at all.
EDIT : The Bob Holly cut on his back was from a table. He was a serious Injury which he missed almost a month. Owen Hart Died 10 years from an accident falling from the rooftops

LOL...touche. i just read what i said and was completely hypocritical. my bad and my previous statement is withdrawn.
As for an opinion, since when does someone have to start off a sentence with...this is my opinion? If i were to say something, it is coming out of my mouth and since it has no factual basis, it is therefore my opinion. Next time i say something and i know you're going to read it, i'll be sure to start everything off with " This Is Only An Opinion"...
Smokez...you say again i called you stupid, yet i fail to see anywhere in my post where i said. hey smokez, you're stupid. And yes if you take a sample of 10 ppl on this website then ok my statistics will be skewed because it is such a small sample of the overall population who enjoy the entertainment. I'm speaking relatively on a large-scale basis. Don't be so up-in-arms about something that you have rearranged the stats to be in your favor. I'm basing this on millions of people from my observations, not on 10 ppl behind a computer screen. Open your eyes when you settle in for a night of wrestling on tv and tell me you don't see tons of people who come from trailer parks, who are missing several teeth, and who look like they havent bathed in ages. And finally, if you would have read the thread, i already explained the first comment when i used the term inbred. I used it as saying the sport in itself is trashy, not that the fans are. READ man...come on

Well, usually when someone wants to say their opinion, they start off with, "In my opinion, ..."
This has gone so off topic...

I can't believe people are sticking up for this asshole.
Brain damage or no, he still murdered his own young mentally handicapped child and his wife. There's no defending that. He was an animal, whether his head was messed up from years of getting it beat in and steroid abuse or not. If he had brain damage, he's still not a man to be respected. His name should never, ever be brought up with the "greats" of wrestling.
I honestly don't see how any sane and rational person could even try to defend what he did. I was a fan of his back when I was still watching wrestling years ago, but as soon as I heard about this shit I felt nothing for him but disgust.
As soon as he killed his family, he lost his status as a wrestler and became a murderer. That's how he'll be remembered, and no autopsy's going to change that. Arguing about it is a waste of everyone's time.
Oh my god, IT HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN THAT HE ACTUALLY KILLED HIS FAMILY AND HIMSELF! That is just the most likely cause of the death of the Benoit family. There's always that small chance that something else happened that no one knows about. For example, that whole Kevin Sullivan rumor. It's just like your chance at winning the lottery. There's a very small chance you will actually win, but you still enter anyway. There's still that small chance that Benoit indeed didn't murder his family, then kill himself. He could have been framed, but I am not saying that is actually what happened. I don't know what actually happen and no one will probably know the full story.

The evidence is practically airtight man. It's not like the police are going to go out of their way to set this guy up, he's white. :p
I realize you may be a fan, and you're in denial about what happened, but the chances of him being found irresponsible for what happened are next to none. It's best to let it go, and look up to someone who didn't most likely murder a woman and child before killing himself.
If by some chance they find solid evidence he didn't do it and there's peace in the middle-east, then go back to worshipping him. But the general public thinks he's a murderer for a reason.

First of all, I didn't find that white joke funny. Second, the chances of him being found irresponsible for what happened are next to none, just like most people's chances of winning the lottery, but it still happens. I am not going to believe any rumor or theory of how the Benoit family died until someone is dead sure about it. There are sick, psychotic serial killers that are geniuses when it comes to this kind of stuff and know exactly what to do to make it look like a double murder suicide, but again, I am not saying anything.

But then again, you could say that for every murder in the history of mankind someone else could have done it. Look into the legal system. Trials and convictions are based on evidence. All the evidence says he killed his family, hence the legal system sees him as guilty.
Prime example....OJ Simpson...Either way this guy was fucked up and how can a company knowingly employ a man with such disorders and head problems when his sport is so dependent on him being alert and in top shape. These new "rumors" are just another opinion to skew the truth and try to save his name....that is my opinion of course...
and bluntman, i enjoyed your joke...reminded me of the south park episode where the cops tried to catch michael jackson hahaha...it's an off-color remark but hey, what is comedy but shit you laugh at that shouldn't be funny in every day situations

Did you read everything? He has major brain damage, he also had another serious problem. I posted about both of them. No one is defending what happened
EDIT : What about the new evidence found about his disorders? These were new and not when he first joined.
Either way this guy was fucked up and how can a company knowingly employ a man with such disorders and head problems when his sport is so dependent on him being alert and in top shape.
Benoit got his disorders and head problems from wrestling with one of his finishers, The Flying Headbutt, which causes serious brain damage and he has experienced many concussions from performing that move, so WWE didn't technically hire a person with disorders and head problems, Benoit got the disorders and head problems while in WWE.

And i'm not disputing that at all. What i'm saying is that after he developed these conditions he should have alerted the wwe, otherwise he could be in breach of contract and lawsuits could be brought up left and right from current wrestlers against the family and wwe for employing someone who may not be in the clearest of mindsets to perform the maneuvers he does....that's all i'm saying...

Benoit was a quiet person and never talked about anything that was bothering him. That's where the rumor of his depression built up so much that he snapped because it just kept piling up and piling up and he did nothing about it and didn't talk to anyone about it.

then the family of the murdered wife could sue the wwe for not actively pursuing the wellbeing of their entertainers....too much shit to say...crazy situation and it'll be interesting to see how it really unfolds over the next few weeks

Seems like you guys already stopped arguing with each other but I didn't get my 2 cents in so here they are:
So turbo, your not really a wrestling fan? I am. Watch it 4 times a week if you count TNA. Now, me J Lo and Smokez all are obviously very loyal fans that take offense when people bash one of our hobbies I guess you could say. Now, you like soccer correct? I for one find that dumbest sport on the planet and could care less if its the world's most played sport or whatever the hell it is. ow see, just my opionion and I'll end it there. But, you said all fans of wrestling are rednecks with mullets. Well, I'm from Chicago and my hair definently not a mullet so your stereotype doesn't work here. Now, I could say well you like soccer so you must be from the UK and have bad teeth right?(no one take offense i'm just using a sterotype like he did but I don't mean it) If I said that to you you'd probably disagree and be pissed. Well, that's why we're all mad here. Wrestling STORYLINES are FAKE. The actual wrestling portions are NOT FAKE. Very very real. Tell me how you can fake falling of the top of a cage? Jumping off a 20 foot ladder threw a table? I'll be here waiting till you have an answer, but you never will cuz you can't fake it.
So for future post, people(not just you turbo) should watch their word choice and make sure to not stereotype wrestling that way me, J Lo, and Smokez don't have to write these long ass post. Not fun at all. Lol.

LMAO.....poor nick...you were about an hour behind the convo. No offense but since i cooled down and wasn't arguing anymore i actually got quite a laugh out of your post. The UK comment sent me over the edge lol. I'm not saying EVERYONE who watches wrestling is, i'm just stereotyping that from what i see , they are the most typical people at a wrestling venue.
I guess when i say fake i look at it like....one guy is pinned against the turnbuckle and the other guy is " punching" him across the chest. The other guy flops around like the Italian soccer team...but you can tell from any camera angle that he is like...skimming across his chest with this forearm...causing no pain whatsoever except maybe a brush burn....that's what i mean when i say fake. Every move is plotted out, who wins is plotted out, and they practice hours on end to perform moves that won't severely hurt their opponents. But like i said...i view the aspect of fake as...someone being "punched" when it's a forearm to their body, or a clothesline in which the recipient obviously dives backwards to make it look as if he couldn't stop running that 10 feet from the ropes....come on now...

Lol yes I know I was late and I kinda said that in the beginning of the post. And I'm not trying to start any more arguments but, what venue's have you seen with all "rednecks"? Was this in Arkansas or Georgia or somewhere like that? Cuz I live in Phoenix and when i went to Smackdown and ECW a month ago, the venue didn't look like that.
