So some people have been saying that their silver accounts have been able to play multiplayer on Xbox Live suddenly. I tested it with a Silver account and managed to play some MP on Halo Reach. The weird thing is I have seen no mentions of a free gold weekend from Microsoft at all. Is it a surprise free gold weekend or what?

Well I posted a thread about being able to upgrade from silver to gold for free but the thread was removed for whatever reason.

But yes, you can upgrade from silver to gold, for 1 month, for free.

Cool, I was going to activate my 48hour card for the weekend, but this is much better, thanks for that.

Since I became Silver over a month ago, I don't miss being Gold at all. I never used the aps or play MP, so it seems natural to stay Silver.

Well what I had posted clearly said 1 month free, but yeah, for the sake of it being removed for no reason whatsoever, I don't want to post the link from Xbox.com again.

Well the other promotion expired, but here is the latest one.

Sounds like you need to be a member of IGN, so you may want to get a registration happening there also.

Edit: Cause I'm not in the US, right? Tried it with UK acc as well but nothing.
