Just wondering for people who have read The Hobbit, are you looking forward to the film?

And the book itself is less than a single volume of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so I'm wondering a bit how they're going to put it into 2 decent movies, and what is the cut off point going to be between Part 1 and 2?

I am currently reading it now. I really like the book and it makes me more excited to see the movie. I don't know where they will cut it off. I am at the pat where Bilbo has escaped the goblins and he uses the ring to surprise the other dwarves.

Yeah I've read it a couple times. I'm pretty excited for the movie, I always thought it would make a great movie.

I suppose for at least one thing they could add - as something added to the Middle earth mythology since Tolkien wrote the trilogy - I don't remember the Ring ever being mentioned as belonging to Sauron, and Bilbo is never haunted by a fiery red eye when he uses it to become invisible.

Maybe they could say being in the depths of the caves makes it obscured to him?

I'm sure the book will make a very good film, but feature length at its shortest tends to be a 90 min film right? And I can't see how without some padding from info for the other LotR or general mythology of Middle Earth that they'll make it into 2 films.

But all I can do is ramble for the meantime, will just have to wait for the films really.

I didn't even know they were making a movie but now that I do I am quite excited because the book was great. I even had the game for ps2.

No, not excited at all.

I foresee even more panoramic scenes of walking than in the last 3 films..
