How the heck do you get the achievement , since the dam barrel been patched ( so you can't do it that way anymore :mad:

If it was patched then clear your system cashe and don't connect to LIVE until after you unlock the achievement.

My guide for that achievement has been having a lot of comments from people saying it still works after the update. I wouldn't know because I don't have online but I would assume it could be due to the timing of when you shoot the barrel. But like HabsCen10ial said, clear your cache and that should work.

What you need to do is unplug your internet connection. Then you clear your system cashe.

You can still sign onto your account but because you're not online you won't be forced to download the update when you put the game in.

Then play the game, unlock the achievement, and then plug your internet back in and sign onto LIVE.

Achievement is dam glitched did it offline(not connected to the internet) cleared cache twice , and still no cheevo ( I am using free aim made sure of that )

there another douche that show's up behind the Eltrocution symbol after I kill them ??? dam it 15 times and still no cheevo :(

bro, i actually killed the 2 guys that carry the crate before the cutscene and still got the ach. after patch.

I did it in 5 tries. Just kill the 2 carrying the crate before the cutscene like the guy above me said then pick of the remaining 5. A bit tricky but no need to go to all the effort of clearing caches and doing it offline.

Just got the achievement with it on hard difficulty , you don't need to shoot the propane at all ...just wait t'ill there 7 close at take them out :locked

There's a barrel?? That would have made it easier, oh well...I think it took me about 5 or 6 tries just waited long enough to have the two guys carrying the crate lined up and shot them in order left to right, it can be done.

It's not just clearing the cache. You have to go into the system memory, find Max Payne 3's entry and delete the title update. I had two entries: a gamesave and a title update (both clearly labeled).

If you delete the title update, start the game and decline the update, the barrel trick works once you load up the proper checkpoint.

I tried this twice on two separate accounts and the barrel thing only worked after deleting the TU.

That doesn't make any sense. Clearing the cache automatically deletes all title updates. That is pretty much it's main purpose.

I don't remember when it started, but lots of recent games have the title updates located with in the game's entry on your storage device. Clearing the cache is no longer the only way to delete title updates anymore.

Also, I had the game early and got this achievement without ever shooting a propane tank. I didn't even know there was one nearby. This is obtainable without it. You just have to not show yourself until the guys carrying the crate get closer to the main group and it becomes very easy to kill all 7.

I got this one with the patch, without shooting the barrel. It's really not too tough.

I was able to do it a couple of different ways, both worked:

1. When you pop out, make sure to shoot the guy on the far right in the head before they see you and start shooting. He was the one far enough from everyone else that I had trouble with.

2. Wait for the 2 guys that are carrying the box to go far enough ahead to where the 3rd guy (who starts behind the 2 guys carrying the crate, then leans up against the boat, then walks forward towards you) to line up with those two carrying the crate. Pop out and get all 3 of those guys, then trigger the jump.

Obviously do it on Medium or Easy, and shouldn't be too tough. I was trying to do it on hard at first, and the guys just soak up too many bullets. Lower the diff and you should be good to go. No tanks needed.

I don't know what to tell you, it didn't work that way for me.

I tried, at least, half a dozen times and simply clearing the cache didn't work. Even if I didn't have explicit directions to follow, I've certainly done it before (and had it work, mind you) with other games. It just didn't take when I tried it with this game.

The game never prompted me for a title update on startup until I manually deleted the old one.

Yeah, I wasn't aware they started doing that. It makes you wonder what the hell the purpose of clearing your cache is now. It has never done anything else for me except remove the updates. It's not like it improves memory or anything else, so basically clearing it is worthless now.

Are you sure its been patched? I did it today by shooting the yellow propane tank on the steps on the right, it left me with about 3 people to kill on the way down, achievement unlocked.

Did you ever get an update when you started playing Max Payne 3? Some people say that they never got one and this achievement unlocks fine when using the barrel, and others say that they got an update and it doesn't work.

I got the achievement yesterday by shooting tank in right as well. I have the special edition and have had every and any update so it sounds just like a case of a glitched achievement :confused:

Weird achievement when I first went for it , I was doing via propane tank wont tell you how many frustrating times :mad: , then a good friend on here mentioned about doing offline ( and clearing the update )

tried that numerous times and to my avail nothing more frustration lol , so reconnected to the net and did the title update again , decided stuff the propane way just round the 7 guys and they take them out .Bloop the achievement popped :woop:

Really can't workout how the guys on those youtube vids , just did it lol without any issue .Achievement ain't glitched but it is buggy ...

The barrel didn't work for me. So I just personally shot everyone on the way down. Took a few tries, but it definitely works.

I just got this one literally 5 minutes ago. Didn't use the propane. One thing I've discovered is that when you're in one of these forced 'cinematic' bullet time sequences, DON'T HOLD LT to aim. All it does is slow down the cursor. I was getting so frustrated because I didn't have time to hit more than about 4 or 5 guys. Tried it again after some sleep and didn't hold down LT, cursor moves much faster. Still took me about three tries but I killed the 7 dudes relatively much easier. I'm gonna try this for future similar cheevos.

EDIT: I've done it!

Here's how I did it, this method should be added to the guide cause it's probably the only way now.

Weapon used: 608 Bull

Order of guys to kill:


First let the guys with the box almost drop it.
Then blindfire over the boat rail and purposely not hit ANYONE.
Kill the two guys in the back (who would die from the tank explosion).
Then the guy in the red shirt to the bottom right.
Then the two who will be in the middle area (one will be diving or running).
Then lastly the two on the far left (should be able to kill two with one shot possibly).

I'ts not the only way. A few people in this thread have confirmed you can get it by shooting the propane tank without having to clear your cache. I unlocked this achievement myself yesterday by shooting the tank. The achievement is just buggy, it wasn't patched. The achievement guide needs to be updated to inform everyone on the buggy/glitchy achievements (*ahem, that would be you, Judd).

i got it after the patch too it took a few attempts but basically shoot the barrel then one of the guys quickly and you should go straight into bullet dodge mode , the barrel should explode just as you enter it. kill the rest of the guys and the achievement will pop.

Well this never worked for me, neither did any other way. I HAD to kill ALL 7 while diving, as killing them before I jumped never worked, neither did the barrel.

I don't know what the deal is with this achievement, just glad I got it finally. But man when I did it, I was like Neo with aimbot. Killing all 7 in that 6 or so second time frame was challenging, more difficult that any part on hard for me so far.
