chapter 8 possible glitch(spoilers)

im stuck on this chapter where you are in a church like building and there is a guy up on a balcony with a shotgun(spas 15), and the dude you're with is saying to kill that guy up top, which i do after killing the 5-ish enemies on the bottom floor. the problem is when i've killed the guy on the balcony, it keeps showing a little cutscene where your friend gets shot and i get mission failed.

there is no time to react to anything after i kill the guy on the balcony and everyone on the bottom floor is dead and there is nowhere for anyone to hide, its only a small place.

anyone know what to do here, is it glitched or am i doing something wrong?

You have to run around to the side and then shoot him in the head. after you kill the other guys run up using cover to cover till you get close enough where the sniper can't shoot you, and then run to the left side and you should be able to headshot him
