tomb raider flaw

i am in the controll room with the telsa coil i think i am supposed to pull it along the track and it is supposed to crush the metal items but all it does is bang into them what am i doing wrong

you have to make sure that there are two orbs firing onto it

thought i had pulled the lever but i had not so it was not charged thanks
