View Full Version : ME3 doesn't recognize Custom Face Code from ME2?!

So....I boot up the game looking to import my Shep as expected. Finds my save, lists my ME1/2 story alignment, then Bam! an error message indicating that my Custom Face isn't recognized in ME3, to "Fix" it by molding another slate or use the Default......Now please say I'm not the only one. I'll gladly start over once a fix is patched since I want to play "My Shepard" not the default one.
Anyone?
Edit: Already making the rounds via News Sites.

yea my 'imported face' just ended up being one of the presets. i redid my sheppard as close as possible to my me1/me2 shep.

Looking into the BioWare forums. Seems to be that if you've created a face in ME1, you can't import it into ME3. Not talking about save from ME1 -> ME3. Talking about a face created in ME1 Imported -> ME2 -> ME3 then it won't work.

:(that kind of stinks
my main-shep is just the default face, since it looks like me in real life :P. however, i did notice that even his face looked a little different. also anderson looked way different, maybe i was just in culture shock.
this game is soooooooo good :)

i always like to if i can change the character personalise it to how i want, we already have good portion of pre made characters in games, nice to be the one in control for a change.

Mine did too. Think it was the ponytail on the Femshep as it was phased out in hair options for ME3.

Yup, same here. Had to create a similar one.

So just to be clear, it's just the faces that aren't importing right? All my ME1 and 2 choices will import fine? As annoying as making my Shepards face again would be I'd be raging if my choices didn't import.

I had the same problem every1 else mentioned n the lips for whatever reason seemed to be the hardest thing for me to get the way i wanted. I even started over after the whole scene with anderson. I never played 1 so i was using my me2 character but it was't exactly like she looked. I got over it as the game just pulls u into the story.

What i can't play my custom made Shepard? Ad Udina would say "this is an outrage".
But seriously that sucks. Well guess no matter how much you work on something to make it perfect something always slips through. Not that big of a deal but still I've grown attached to my Shepard's face.

I'm only a few hours in, and already quite a few decisions have carried thru, even with the face import problems. my favorite encounter so far has been with that reporter that always tries to make you look bad. EPIC!!!!!

Same happened to me a couple of days ago. I solved it thanks to a method posted somewhere in the BioWare forum. It was originally made for carrying your Mass Effect 2 face to Mass Effect, preserving it as similar as possible. I had to extract my save file from Mass Effect 2 to the PC, then followed the aforementioned tutorial, which in the end led to a facecode. Then I input that code, only having to fill three or four blanks, and my Shepard was almost identical. :)

Glad I'm not the only 1 who thinks this is BS. Because we have been through this series from the beginning we get screwed ,NICE. I feel like I'm playing with Shepard's look alike cousin
Oh well time to play,if this could just be the worst thing I have to bitch about it that would be just fine with me.:woop:

i have heard of save issues arising might be worth looking on the bioware offical forums, thats probably where the issue would be noticed.

Apparently, if you made changes to your ME2 face imported from ME1, they said it should import fine, but if you made no changes, then its the error message.
And yes, the Devs are aware of the problem and are going to try and fix it.

Make sure the file is completely "closed". I mean, some people had this problem importing their Mass Effect characters in Mass Effect 2, and it seems it was because of they hadn't saved afterwards, although they actually finished the game. And check you're choosing the proper unit (HDD, Memory Unit, USB, whatever). This one sounds about stupid, but it DID happen to me. :p

Thats a jip to all of the series loyalists. I've been hanging onto the profile that I built for my first playthrough way back in 2007 with the intentions of having a pure, 100% natural playthrough before I used all of my calculated accounts. Now I feel like I'm getting screwed because my facial designs never end up looking exactly the same.
Doesn't really surprise me though. I already lost my combat scars when I went from ME1 to ME2. At least all I'm losing here is a few bone structures.
