Maybe someone here can shed some light on this problem as it's really chapping my ass.

I have a stack of original Xbox games that I like to dust off occasionally and play on my 360 mainly for the nostalgia. All of the games on disc are on the compatibility list and have worked previously. I have some Xbox originals from marketplace as well. The last time I loaded an original was about two weeks ago with Halo 2 and the game played with no problems. Today, I tried to load Black and Doom 3 and got - "The game could not start. Try downloading the game again".

I went through around ten of my other original Xbox games including the Halo 2 disc that worked two weeks ago and none of them will play now. I'm on my fourth 360 since launch and I have had disc drive errors before. Two of my past consoles had DVD drive failures and would not play 360 games but would still play DVDs and original Xbox games. This is exactly the opposite. I can play all of my 360 games but none of my originals.

I went through all of the steps at support.xbox.com twice including cache clearing, disc cleaning, HDD pulling, USB removal and deleting and reloading the latest update. Same problem - I can play 360 games but no originals. I then deleted, re-downloaded and tried launching the GTA:San Andreas that I bought from marketplace and it won't play either, so it's not my DVD drive.

Has anyone else had recent trouble like this? Does it have anything to do with recent updates? I have an elite with an OEM HDD.
