Now that the game is out already, and so many people are making walkthroughs and putting information on websites such as this one, is it really worth buying any of the strategy guides? I am level 90+ too, and only on the timeline Archelyte Steppe after Sunleth Waterscape. I see the guide for $10.00 CAD though...so not sure if it is worth it or not...

Honestly I love the stratgey guide, just because of the maps and the advice it gives on infusing monsters and certain boss battles. As well as the database of items and such since they aren't up online yet.

Wait, it has info (useful info) on infusing monsters? Then I am totally getting it!

Yeah, it gives tables on which abilities are able to be transferred, which monsters have abilities that can't, as well as guides on how they stack/don't stack, etc. It's pretty useful just in that regard probably since without it it's kind of a trial and error that either requires lots of farming or resetting.

Yea, I learned that the hard way. I fused those Early Peaker robots, the yellow one, and then the green one together, and the Early Peaker had "Fast ATB" and when I fused them, I got "Stagger Lock" =_="

I'd get it just for Collection purposes. The guide can be obtained in full book form.
Amazon.com: Final Fantasy XIII-2: The Complete Official Guide - Collector's Edition (9780307894212): Piggyback: Books

The monster guide posted on here is word for word out of the strategy guide dealing with monster infusion. It's not in a nice little grid like in the guide, but the same information is there.
That being said, I love the guide. And it's NOT a Brady guide, its a Piggyback....which is a big plus. I haven't found anything wrong with the maps yet, unlike most brady guides I've used in the past. Easy to make sure you get every item and don't miss anything. Even has an "optimal" leveling path for Serah and Noel. Much easier to do if you save up enough CP to do a full Cyrstarium Stage at once :) I've done this since I started....gives the same feeling as getting a "level up" in standard rpgs.

Since most of the information can be found on the internet nowadays are people buying guides for collectors purposes or is there extra information in them? I think the last time I bought a guide was when Earthbound came with one so I'm curious to know if I'm missing out on something good.

Map Info, and more detailed info in a lot of things. And definitely collector purposes.
Piggybank is really amazing with guides though, probably one of the best looking guides I've seen is their FFXIII guide book.

I haven't got FFXIII-2 yet, but for FFXIII I bought the strategy guide and it was brilliant! I used it to get all of the treasures as I played the game, so as not to have to backtrack. It had everything you would need in it. The only bad thing about it was that it had bad strategies against Cieth enemies, but that's the only flaw, and not a big one.
I'll probably get this strategy guide too.

I like having the hard copies for collection purposes, but where do you think 90% of that information on the internet comes from so quickly on the day the games are released? From those of us who bought the guides.
Besides all the information in the guide - most of which is already posted word for word on the internet, including here - the Maps are a BIG plus to me. Some of the treasure spheres in this game can be ridiculously well hidden...and written descriptions don't always cut it. Having a map, and for well hidden items, a screenshot of its location can save a lot of headaches.
