No fear, it'll get moved over when a mod sees it.
My favorite team is the Colorado Rapids. I know, I know, MLS teams aren't anything compared to EPL, but it's all we Americans have!
As far as the EPL is concerned, I'm an Arsenal fan personally. Although it's going to be tough considering I was a big Ljunberg fan, but I'll stick with it. Can't have any fairweather fans round here.

Right after the season ended. Then Ljunberg signed with....oh crap, I don't remember....someone else in the EPL I'm pretty sure. Either way, it sucks.

Lol. Webb fighting cures everything. Even cancer. That way Ali doesn't have it. If he does, its because he quit at the top of his career.

Ridiculous.
Anyway, go Colorado Rapids. Horrible season so far, but I still pull for my boys.
For EPL I would have to say that I do not have a favorite team. I really dig several players from several different teams and never had any reason to really choose a particular team.
In that vain, I don't think there is a single Italian league team that I like. Possibly the most corrupt sports league in the world.

I am posting this purely because in both this and the American Football League thread you are flaming the sport purely based on the foundation of higher salaries... and it has bothered me to the point of making me get out my calculator... and I hate calculators.
IN 2006
Average NFL Player Salary = $710,604
Average PREMIERSHIP Player Salary = £676,000 ~ $918,751.6
So considering that the average Euro baller makes $200,000 more then the average NFL player... that would make you wrong.
Like or love a sport... don't flame in an ignorant way... that is my only point. To each their own.
Turbo VDuB 44
08-14-2007, 07:28 PM
I'm not flaming in an ignorant way. I'm saying yes, nearly every sport in the world is overpaid. however how many soccer players do you see wearing diamonds the size of their heads....how many do you see taking $80,000 into a strip club...how many do you see creating gambling rings in their own homes for dog fighting...NONE. My only point is that they are overpaid to the point that they don't know how to act once they get money. Soccer players may show their wealth, but not to the extent that American football and basketball players do. And to me it is completely ridiculous, so i know the numbers you posted, and knew that before my post so please don't call me ignorant. I'm in law school, and i'm far from ignorant. However, soccer players don't have the scandals (besides Italian soccer) that american sports have. THAT was my point of being overpaid
EDIT: with your wonderful math skills...how do you have an average that varies by 242,751...an average is an exact number. You're claiming that soccer players make over 200,000 more than footballers, however you are going from the top end, in which you are contradicting your own numbers and statement. Since you went high end, i'll go low and say that americans are paid over 100,000 more than footballers. The AVERAGE of your numbers you posted is 797K meaning that english players make just over 85K more than americans. Get your numbers straight before flaming me bro....
snafegeeza
08-14-2007, 07:36 PM
Lets keep this ON TOPIC please.
Both sets of sports players get grossly overpaid, thats just the way it is and there is nothing we can do about it.
John Terry earns £135,000 per week. The Prime minister of England earns £180,000 per year.
So John Terry draws in a week and a half what the leader of our country draws in a year.
Its a well known fact that sports players earn silly money.
There are many footballers over here that have their own buisnesses, the most popular is property investment.
PS You would be suprised about the scandles in soccer, you just probably dont get to hear about them over there.

I got my numbers based on the US Today Average player salary Per team in the past season 2006. I added and divided. Did the same for Premiership players from another site. So based on the documented numbers I pulled the numbers are right.
I'm just happy it made you go a little further. I wasn't flaming you, purely stating I would love to hear statements that aren't just straight ripping on people/teams/leagues without proper foundation.
Also to your ignorant comments, they weren't geared towards you, but your comments. I don't know you so I can't make such statements... I just thought your comments were ignorant cause they were, again lacking foundation.
As Snafegeeza says though... all professional athletes are paid silly amounts, and I think that is something we can both agree on.
I don't want this to get anymore off topic so lets stop the bickering here :). Just wanted you to keep in mind what you were saying... and how you were saying it.
Take care :) and prepare for Man U to stomp your boys this year again :drunk

lol sorry to get off topic. i wasn't trying to be a dick in response either, just wondering what your numbers were. I realized my first statement was vague on the overpaid players since as you both said, every sport is overpaid....i'm kinda curious as to what english footballers have to compare, scandal-wise, with players such as michael vick and pacman jones.
Anywho go Blues...let's see how Manu fairs against them like they did last year...in the FA Cup final of course

We heard about the Italian League one. You can blame MLS that EPL isn't highly played on English channels. (Every game I try to watch always seems to be in Spanish...)

It used to not be, but ever since we've gotten the Fox Soccer Channel, it's gotten much better. I usually catch 3 or 4 PREMIERSHIP (;)) games during the offseason (replays and such) and up to 6 or so during the season. I can actually watch more Premiership games during the MLS season than MLS games (you only get local coverage, plus the thursday night ESPN game, and the Saturday FSC game).
But hey, Rapids vs. Revolution, this Thursday night. If you watch it, look for me in the 4th row, middle of the field :) I love live soccer.

Look for me cuz Becks will be on tv for 95% of the broadcast...i'll be row 3 directly behind the Galaxy bench...i'll be in a Becks jersey ( like everyone else) next to my girl who is gonna wear my Shevchenko jersey!
And thank god for FSC, otherwise we would see no games from the EPL whatsoever. Chelsea v Reading is starting in 20 minutes on FSC!!! GO BLUES!!

Yeah, we've actually got season tickets, so we'll be there for the Beckham game on the 25th also. That's why TeleRock said we've got great seats....he'll be right there next to me ;) Crappy thing is that they apparently cancelled the live broadcast of the Rapids vs. Revolution for the Toronto game because they're playing LA and Beckham will be there.
I understand the guy is quite the media pretty boy, but jesus. This is getting a bit ridiculous. The Rapids and Revolution deserve media attention too. He's great and all for bringing attention to the game, but c'mon, this isn't the Beckham league with a few other teams thrown in there so he has someone to play against.
