Anyone hoping for a different city to be set in?

I am a big GTA fan and I have been for many years. I think I have played all of the games so far. When I heard about GTA IV I was very excited that a new city would be featured. So far (on the last gen) we have been to New York (Liberty City), Miami (Vice City) and California/Navada (San Andreas). I was anticipating somewhere very cool and original for the game to be set in. I was thinking that the game should take place in Europe (London, Paris, Italy, etc). I thought that those places would make a good setting for a crime drama. But now they hit us with New York (Liberty City)again. Is anyone kind of done with this city? What setting do you think that they shoud have done?

I wonder if Rockstar will throw us a curve and change the game's location setting completely after playing a little bit of the game. It would be so crazy if the footage that we have seen is all from the opening movie and then he flys off to Europe where the game begins. How many of us would crap our pants if that happened? Haha. Anyway, post your thoughts about the new location of GTA IV.

Well if it's a GTA with a number on the end it's obvious they will go to Liberty City. GTA I, II, and III all took place there so GTA IV could be expected to happen there. I think it's nice that they have changed it a lot with more locations and other things that make it more like a new city. I do agree with you that it is getting old though. I'm sure the next one will be somewhere else, maybe London. Of course there is still San Andreas Stories they have to make.

It's definately gunna be in Liberty City. How could they not keep on the tradition? I mean San Andreas and Vice City were nice...but c'mon.

Wishful thinking. It'll be in Liberty City. Too much time went into that city...they won't waste all that money to make us "think" it's somewhere else.

But remember. This time your getting pretty much the "real" city. It's gonna be different.

I see what you guys are saying. I see now that everytime they release a GTA with a number in the title it is set in Liberty City. Maybe in the sequal to IV it will be set in a different and new location. Here's hoping for London, my favorite city.

Liberty City was always the best city in the series, so long as they don't cock it up like San Andreas it is going to be a character in itself. In GTA III it never felt like a city because it was spread across the three islands and each wasn't that vast. Now that they are making one big city based on New York it will feel like a true city like in the original games.

Not gonn hapen but maybe the first quarter of the game is in that city then it goes somewhere else after your on the run or something, hat would be insane. But i doubt it...i got London on ps1 though. ;):)

Nah there actually was a GTA London after 1 and before 2 on ps2 but no thtat popular. The getaway was a different thing all together.

Also i read somewhere that in GTA 1 and 2 the there were 3 islands for Vice City, San Andreas and Liberty City. Then they did it again for 3 so maybe they will do all 3 for GTA 4 and make another Londen spin off to keep the pattern. But hey know what they're doing adn although the sound of another Liberty and a Russian doesn't leap out at my wants or needs...im sure i will loveeee the game. :)

But anyway i doubt it will happen.

GTA London was on the PS1 and PC =P

It was released after the first two games but I don't know if it had global success, I know I never bothered with it despite the offering of total destruction closer to home. But I seem to remember the earlier games were split into three levels not islands, unless each island had three levels. GTA II made you get $50,000 just to save the game and I remember getting randomly teleported to a new level when I got a crap load more than that. But it never mentioned different islands, just different districts of a city.

I'm beginning to wonder if New Liberty (cunning name) is going to be too much like New York. Yes it will feel more like a city since it is based on one, but I don't want to just terrorise the streets of a copy-cat city. Hopefully Rockstar are going to put in their own trademark flourishes to keep it original.

y dont they just make something like a gta england or gta europe wer u can fly to the key points in europe like london , paris , madrid or berlin or something like tht and gta london was a game ive got it on ps1

Liberty City is still a great city, but it would be interesting to be somewhere in Europe. Maybe even a GTA: World? That'd be original, but it'd probably take away from the classic feel of Grand Theft Auto.

I think it will be good in Liberty City...it will be a lot more in depth than GTAIII and the graphics will obviously be a hell lot better...it should make for a really good setting I think.
