The Rasterbator

Sup folks, I thought I'd make a thread about this program since it's garnered much positive feedback for me. Basically, this free program will let you take any image you want from your computer, and then blow it up and "rasterize" it. A rasterized image will be formed out of thousands of dots that you can set the size of.

Here's an example of one that I have up in my room now:

Everyone that's been in my room's commented on it. It's an awesome way to add some flavor to your abode, and you can make it any size you want. Mine's about 8ft x 8ft, took about 6 hours to put together between actually rasterizing the image, printing it out, and putting it up.

I've actually seen something similar on eBay. It was a Final Fantasy pic that was section off into many squares. It was being sold as a "poster". Thanks for sharing the program with us, Blunt!

Question about the program bluntman,
can you do it with any type of image or just certain types?

I'm pretty sure you can use any type of image.

But if not, you can just use Irfanview to convert the image into whatever format the Rasterbator uses.

That is your image. :p

If there's multiple pages, the first page will be the top left corner, and each page will go horizontally from that I believe. You need to keep close track of the pages and what order they go in. I laid all the pages out on the floor and put it together like a puzzle before I put it up on my wall.

What dot size are you all using?

I made mine like 3 years ago so I don't really remember. I'm pretty sure it was the default, but not certain.

I believe there's a way to preview what the image will look like with each dot size in the program.

you need a camera..and a usb cord to hook up to your computer..

or if you have a camera phone..you can text it too your email.

Thanks, the problem im having is actually putting the picture on my post, so instead ive had to put an attachment. The first image is the rasterbated image, and the second image is the original image i used to rasterbate. It looks a lot better in real life and it is my first try :p -

How much ink does it waste when it's printing? I mean, is it reasonable or takes a lot just to do one picture?

I don't remember exactly how much ink it took, but it wasn't that bad. Maybe a sixth of the cartridge for an 8ft x 8ft image?

Ya'll did a bitchin job with your's. I'm really considering making another one now. Still love 2pac, but I think it's time for a change. I really like custom and Slormer's. Scanner Darkly's a badass movie. :p
