Wow, as a nurse that is all I can say, that dude is a tough son of a bitch.

I can only imagine what his body is going to look like tomorrow. Poor guy.

He is lucky to be alive. He was sent to the hospital after and I don't think they found any thing serious.

Holy shit. That's all I have to say, when I saw him hit I was literally like .

It's crazy how people can walk away from stuff like that. But others can break their foot by simply walking into the edge of a couch.

Doubt anyone will see it, but here's a youtube link so you don't have to leave teh site.

And here's a shorter video showing how massive the impact way.

Wow, how can he walk after taking that huge fall? I would probably not be able to move after falling that far. Good thing he's ok.

When I was watching it on ESPN, I was shocked at what I just saw. He flew about 40-50ft. into the air and landed HARD! I'm glad he was able to get back up and walk away.

Man, that guy is built like an Ox to have survived that.

An ox would even break his legs and spine with that...how is that humanly possible to not break everything. He had to have at least a concussion from the way his head snapped back and hit.

Holy cow I am shocked he got up and walked away.

The reason he didn't brake his legs is actually because his shoes flew off. His shoes absorbed most of the impact and by flying off when they did they didn't transfer any of the shock to his legs/body. The rest of the fall was taken by his padding/helmet.

I've had a lot of falls from skateboarding & skiing, and there's nothing scarier than suddenly realizing that you're going to fall dozens of feet and you have about 5 seconds to think about it.

Amen to that, my first attempt at a vert ramp drop-in went well at first but instead of launching straight up in the air on the opposite side, I kinda went outward over the landing. What sucked is the vert ramp was up on a hill with about a 15 foot drop to a shallow and rocky creek. I didn't break anything but i busted my head open, had many gashes and it seemed like i had a huge bruise on 80% of my body. My left knee was locked up and i couldn't walk unassisted for a few days (not that i felt like doing anything but laying very still for almost a week). Anyways I know the fall took 5 to 10 seconds but it felt like 5 to 10 minutes of slow motion free-fall. **shudders**

See, I saw this the night it happened, and I was telling everybody on Shadowrun, but they wou;dn't believe me or they thought I was exxagerating. In your face! He fell AT LEAST 45 feet, and and the strength to(with aid) stand up and walk outta there.
What was funny was RIGHT after that run, Bob Burnquist goes and beats Brown's score. Although, if jake Brown's board didn;t go flying, he probably would have improved on his previous 1st place score with that 720 over that huge gap. (He probably would have made so no one could have gotten close)
In your face to those who wouldn't listen!:p

Mine would be...

"I wonder what my family will put on my gravestone"

--or--

"I hope I get a nice marble gravestone near famous dead people"

I saw this live on EXPN and was absolutely stoked that he just pulled the insane 720 (first one he's ever done accross the gap) so I had stood up and was going "fuck yeah he landed the 720 guys" to my friends that had got bored and went to watch Jackass, they got up came over but before they got here I had started swearing at the monitor thinking I had just watched Jake Brown die on live broadcasting. Definitely the gnarliest slams I have ever seen, amazing to know he has survived, he's fit to skate now by the way guys. :D

Watch his section in Blind What If if any of you like him as a skater, he has a sick section.

As someone who once was in a major accident on a bicycle, I feel as lucky as this guy. I ended up with a broken neck after flying 30+ feet and going way too fast. I completed healed from the accident though it took some time. If his thoughts were anything like mine while in the air, it would have been "Oh crap....this is gonna hurt!"

Yeah, something like that must have been going through his mind. Thankfully he seemed to react well and turn onto his back, which was obviously the best way to fall as he didn't get much injuries. Makes me think if those guys skating the Big Air have practised (well maybe not 40 foot drop) how to slam if they go offcourse and fall to flat like that, because Jake seemed to know what to do.

Skateboarders are tough sum' bitches.

He definitely knew how to take the fall, you can see him react when he realizes he's about to hit the ground and twist his body up so he landed on his back and not his face.

It's actually more common than you'd think to survive long falls without serious injuries. I read a story in the news about a kid who fell 5 stories from a hotel balcony and landed on pavement without getting hurt. He just got back up and walked back to his room with some scrapes and bruises.

Craziest I've heard of though is a professional skydiver who fell almost 2 miles into a bush and came away with some broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a broken ankle. Probably hurt like shit, but he fell almost 2 miles and walked away without dying or any permanent injuries. Insane shit.

Yah it is, it really is a miracle. I heard about the skydiver, freaking insane. However the little kid, that is crazy. I can't imagine. What the heck was he doing jumping over the rail on the balcony
