... that id Software should release an HD version of Doom 3 on Games on Demand. All of their games are great and they should all have modern console ports. I also think it would be cool to get achievements from Doom 3.

What I really want id Software to do is to re-boot Doom 1 and 2 using the id Tech 5 engine, BUT keep the old HUD, old level designs, and even the guns centered on the screen.

Obviously in HD, high-resolution textures, and 3D models, but they need to keep the base game the same.

Kinda like what Halo CE is doing with Anniversary. Just an HD overcoat.

Re-booting Doom 3 as well, but keeping it the way Doom 3 was of course.

Then my life of gaming will be complete, as my very first game ever was Doom 1 WAAYYY back on PC a long time ago when I was a kid.

that is an interesting idea, but due to the very old-school nature of the AI in both Doom and Doom II, i am not sure how well it would translate in this day and age. i am not altogether very fond of all these HD "remakes", but if they are done right, such as with the anniversary edition of Halo: CE, than i will bite. the older classics like Doom, Doom II, Wolfenstein, System Shock, Duke Nukem, and Marathon should probably just stay in their own time where they will forever be remembered and appreciated by those of us who had the pleasure of playing them when they were all the rage (no pun intended). or they should just appear as XBLA titles as many of them already have.

games that have aged a bit better, like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and Thief, should definitely get the HD treatment. i would LOVE to play those games with a 360 controller on my television set with surround sound and achievements (of course).

Yea I see what you're saying. You gotta appreciate the classics the way they are. Nothing beats the original. It's the same way with music, no cover can ever beat the original completely.

Just an idea I had, in fact many mods out there have already done that, for Doom 3 PC though. Check out Classic Doom 3, it is a pretty sweet mod for Doom 3 on the PC.
