So I bought an official 360 network adapter from a seller on ebay i've used before, and I've had some problems with it. And fyi I'm using it with the elite console, and a linksys router..

1st: If i hook it up in the back, it overheats and disconnects from Live within 5 minutes of gameplay. Useless, that's Microsoft's idioticy and not the adapter itself.

2nd: So now I have to hook it up in the front, no problem right? ..Yeah no problem every now and then, but mostly when hooked up in the front, it will not register and not show Red/Green LED, so its like its not even hooked up.

What does the 360 built in help say about this? Restart the console. Okay. Still unstable, and not reliable.

Anyone got an idea how to fix this? Should I contact my seller to replace it? It's nice when it works..

It could be a possible hardware error on either the Adapter or a fault connection on the LinkSys router if the problem continues get in touch with MS support and see what they suggest:drunk

Well I don't think it has anything to do with the Linksys, because when it was actually a problem connecting, i just reset the router and all was fine that occasion.

The 'network testing' says the adapter is disconnected, when it's plugged in. So ..I would think it's dead..

i have both a lynksys wireless router and the official wireless adapter, and you just have make sure your wireless network is set up correctly. so when you o that just plug it in and just follow the introductions given. if that doesnt work call the microsoft or lynksys service line. i had the same problem bro.

Well I've gotten the internet/router-related stuff squared away, I've already signed on Live before through the console. But the adapter won't even turn on/register, the lights won't turn on so it's like it's not even plugged in..

I emailed the seller and Microsoft as well..we'll see what each says..

read the manual for the adapter. it should tell you that you have to put in a code or something if that doesn't work... i dunno i have to remember what i had to do

It sounds like the adaptor is faulty as it shouldn't be getting hot (at least mine doesn't). Have you ever plugged a controller into that rear usb port to see how it works? Try that to take out the thought of it being a console hardware issue.

Well I don't have a wired controller, at least not a 360 wired controller; have a Logitech usb controller for the pc.. But the adapter won't work in the front ones on a consistent basis either.

Regarding heat, I have the console laying horizontal because it performs better for some reason, but the adapter was scalding hot when plugged in and the clips were attached to their holes.

I have a problem like this... I had an xbox 360 for about 8 months with the wireless adaptor up until now. the xbox went through a series of problems luckily i had a 2 yr service agreement from best buy. I got there today and of course they dont have a regular xbox so I go with the Elite... I go home hook it up with the same 360 wireless adaptor in the same spot and it wont connect. should i just buy a new 360 wireless adaptor or return the 360 and get a new one. microsoft hung up on me F*ck them
