T.V sound problem

Ok so i got my new tv, connected it all up and tuned it in but all i can ever get is static noise when trying to view the t.v :(

Its tuned in correctly because the picture is fine but i get only a static noise.

Am i missing something or is it just a faulty set?

Could be the wire themselves or the more unlikly; The sound is on a different 'channel' than the picture?

Is it a normal T.V. or do you have a Sterio with it or some kind of sound system?

Its just a normal lcd t.v i havent tried it with external speakers yet.

It cant be the aeriel either because that was fine with my old tv :(

Are there any types of visual scratches/openings on A/V cables? Thats really the only other thing I can think of :(.

If So, Either get some Electrical Tape and patch it up and if that doesn't work get some new cables.

If not, I don't know. Sorry P1n.
