No joke, I found hundreds of comic books in my basement earlier. The first issues of Spawn, X-men, Silver Surfer...all kinds of crap. Even have DC Comic's dungeons and dragons comics from the first issue on. They're all in mint condition too, in the original wrappers. I know there's people out there who pay absurd amounts of money for this stuff, so I feel like I just won the lottery. I'm not much of a comic fan myself...but my inner nerd screamed with glee when I found these. :p

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to go about selling these things, or what they're worth. Does anyone have any idea what I should do with these things? I know there's probably at least $500 worth of comics here.

First and Second issues of Spawn...might keep these, Spawn's a gangsta. :uzi:

Haha, I can't believed you called it "crap".:p

That's some good treasure you got there. Got to check the Wizard magazine for the prices. I take that back...does the Wizard still carry prices on comics? I haven't pick one up in years. Either way, Bluntman...you'll have some extra income if you sell them off.;)

How the hell do you now know those are down in your basement?

i would sit back and wait for PantsParty's reply before deciding where to sell. i get the vibe from him that he is the comic genius for where and how to sell them—he may even take some off of your hands. ;)

Don't get my hopes up like that. :p

I was expecting like $300 or so for the lot of them...guess I should rethink that.

I looked around on the net for a database with prices and whatnot, to no avail. I'm hoping someone here will know what I should do, since I know there's a lot of comic book fans here. I'm trying to avoid ebay...had some bad experiences with it in the past.

I have about 100 issues of the Uncanny X-men btw...when wolverine and the crew still wore their classic gear, and Storm was rocking the mohawk.

A couple more pics:

First issue of X-men (circa 1991), another issue of X-men with an appearance from Ghost Rider.

First issues of Nomad and Longshot. No clue who Longshot is, Nomad's from Captain America I believe.

http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9926/p7250109kb8.jpg

First issue of Youngblood, 29th issue of Ghost Rider featuring the X-men. I have no idea who the hell Youngblood is.

The Pants Party is an Admin there, so I guess he is going to be your best bet here.

Did you buy those and forget about them, or did the previous owners leave them behind?

wow i bet all those first issues could get you alot of money and especially classics like x-men and silver surfer

EDIT: you might want to check this site out if you type in the comic and click on it, it comes out with prices for them ex. silver sable only worth like $6.00 silver surfer second issue $5.00

Just getting ready to reply to your PM and saw this thread here, so I'll just ramble here... Like Ebil up there said, my site has a pretty decent price database, but it's all inputed by myself and one other guy, so it's obviously not perfect and mostly just the main titles are done.

There aren't any good paper price guides anymore except Overstreet, but that is only published quarterly I think. Wizard isn't bad, but it has a small selection of prices. Comicspriceguide.com is probably your best bet for getting a general idea.

If you want to register over at my site and post on the forums there that you're selling, you might get a few offers. Our site is mostly for people to make a database of their collection, so the forums aren't really active, but it couldn't hurt. Large runs sell better than single issues, so check and see if you have consecutive stuff, or at least a big number of one title, even if it's non-numerical.

Silver Surfer is obviously hot right now because of the new FF movie. Silver Sable is crap. Spawn's not worth the paper it's printed on anymore, and same with Youngblood (basically if it's an Image comic, it's not worth anything). Thor just returned from the dead so his stuff should be able to sell right about now. Any type of X-Men comic is always a good seller. Iron Man's not doing so good because of his involvement with Captain America's death.

Uh, yeah, I'm a nerd.

Edit: Just saw you mentioned you have some old Uncanny issues. If you have anything before #165, I'll take that off your hands. I have every issue from January 1983-Present, so anything before that I'm looking to get. Just don't tell my wife. ;)

I have a few older comics as well... Not as many, put if I PM them to ya, can you hit me up?

Dude thats a huge find and one I wish would happen to me; I'd probably squeal like an 8 year old girl meeting Justin Timberlake. Pants Party is right about Image Comics being worth little and I wish it weren't so. I collected during the time Image hit it big, it seemed everything they came out with flew off the shelves and became popular.

Even though this is all true I'd definitely be willing to work something out with you for the Spawn comics especially that first issue. During the time I collected I was also big into sketching. My mom still has a poster sized sketch I did of the cover for Spawn #1 (I'll find a pic of it and post it sometime). Since I've done that sketch I've always wanted that comic yet never went out to get it. Again though, great find Bluntman.

That must have been a nice surprise. Good luck on selling them!

Not to burst anyone's bubble (sorry Bluntman) but to me, that looks like $20-50 worth of comics. If those are worth $500, then I'm going to be a millionaire from my stash. To me, and granted I haven't been into comics for 10 years now, that's just a bunch of random comics from early 90s. Don't be fooled by Longshot #1. That's from a six part mini and even if you had the whole set it's worthless. Anything from Image is worthless, except maybe those Spawns, but they printed millions of that comic and if you told me it was worth more than $5 I'd be surprised.

Okay, quick ebay search and you can get both of those issues of Spawn for $0.99 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Spawn-1-and-2-Comic-Book-Lot-1992-Mint-Rare_W0QQitemZ260141941185QQihZ016QQcategoryZ17079 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).

Yeah, I know they aren't that valuable. I'm expecting to get a couple hundred for them. The X-men are up for about $8-$12 each on ComicsPriceGuide.com.

If anyone's interested in snagging any of them before I put them on Ebay, here's a quick list of what I've got. I'm selling them for the prices up on comicspriceguide.com. Most are in mint condition, especially the X-men comics.

They were my brother's. He left these boxes in our basement 10 years ago before he moved to Japan.

I'm splitting the profits with him 50/50. ;)
