Post your prediction of who will win the Cup, over which team and in how many games.

I believe my San Jose Sharks will win the Cup over Boston in 6-Games.

honestly it's too early to tell.

I hate saying this but, if Vancouver can stay healthy and not choke (like always) then they have a great shot at winning it. Boston has a good shot at a repeat if Thomas has another great year, and Finally New Jersey has a chance to go there and possibly win, depending on Martin's performance, and assuming they stay healthy.

that's just what I think though. My Ave's will not be making it this year I don't think, but it's too early to tell what's going to happen

I hear ya both, but I think it would be cool to see if anyone got their prediction right just a week into the season. I always pick my Sharks anyways.

I'd like to see my Ducks take a second Stanley Cup. I was there at Honda Center when they won the Cup in 5 games over Ottawa back in 2007. That whole experience was pretty awesome. I know they're not a top favorite to win this year but they are a very skilled and talented team and with Jonas Hiller back and healthy that makes us so much stronger. Here's to another entertaining year of NHL hockey. It will be fun for sure.

Really? If they keep playing they way they are right now, I think they'll make the Play offs.

I would like to see them win the Cup. 1967 was the last Stanley Cup for them.

So. If the Leafs make the Playoffs this year, I'll take the Maple Leafs.

I'm sure they can make the playoffs this year but they will not win the cup. Making the playoffs alone is going to require consistency from Kessel. Reimer needs to be exceptional and they really need to work on that penalty kill. I don't think Toronto has the depth on the backend. A shutdown defensemen would do that team wonders.

As far as who I think will win the cup depends on a few things. Right now the all around best contender is the Flyers (In my opinion). If Vokoun can be that last ingredient for the Caps then they will finally go deep. And if Crosby comes back better then ever they will be a serious force to deal with. Assuming Malkin and Stall stay healthy. I'm predicating a Flyers/Capitals/or Pens conference finals.

In the west, I like LA and Vancouver will turn this slump around without a doubt. As previous people have said a Pens/LA series isn't unbelievable. But right now I'm liking the Flyers. A Phili and Vancouver series could be a really entertaining one.

A shutdown defensemen would be great! But, what good defenseman wants to play in Toronto? If they can find one, then great! If not, they'll be screwed for years to come.

I love my Maple Leafs, but Burke has to get his thumb out of his ass & sign some good players. Kessel on the other hand, I think he's gonna be force on the team. If he can keep popping in the goals & setting up players, he will have a fantastic year.

I was pissed when Toronto got Phil Kessel for 2 1st Round Draft Picks and didnt do squat since he came over. This year may be a different story. I hope.

Ha. Fanboy answer from a fanboy user. Anyone who would say such a thing about Pacioretty (learn your hockey players btw) in that specific incident is a fuckwit with no compassion for human beings. I seriously hope you get run over by a semi.

Let's see your fat self sustain a concussion and non-displaced fractures of your third and fourth cervical vertebrae... and we'll see who's the wimp.

I can understand that, I guess but what I don't understand is how someone saying stuff like that on the internet is going to do anything other than cause a possible flame war.

regardless, and back on topic, one of these days Vancouver is going to regret starting off slow in the season and it's going to bite them.

lol, u mad bro?

Injuries are a part of hockey. Hockey is a dangerous sport. These guys know that going into it, when they sign their contracts. I'm not going to waste time crying about something that is expected to happen.

No one complained when Horton was knocked so severely unconscious by Rome that his body went into rigor mortis on the ice, with his arms in the air, so why should Pacioretty matter? ;)

I love how you disregard mostly every damn argument I brought up.

First of all, I'm not mad, I just hate retards, and that includes people who can't debate something properly, like you.

Second of all, I'm not your brother, and the last thing I wanna be in this world is being blood-related to a retard.

Third of all, yes, injuries are a part of hockey. Dirty blows are not. That would be like me saying "Heh, death is a part of life" and then comparing this with someone deliberately running you over and killing you. But no, it's alright, 'cause you know, death happens!

Fourth of all, it's not worth crying about injuries, but you are crying about refereeing? Yeah, no contradiction or double standard there, man. Keep telling yourself that you're making sense. You're the only one who believes it.

Fifth of all, no one complained? Obviously no one complained, Rome was suspended! Are you mentally challenged? You are just proving my point by bringing this up. My point is that Chara wasn't suspended for a dirty hit that nearly chopped Pacioretty's head off, and you dare bring up Rome's hit on Horton? Not only was Rome suspended for the remainder of the Stanley Cup finals, but he was suspended for a clean hit. Horton needs to keep his smug face up. He didn't. He got leveled, clean. End of story.

Moreover, Pacioretty's injuries were far worse than Horton's, so again, no comparable there.

And besides, Pacioretty > Horton.

I'll be happy to see the Bruins make the playoffs this year. Winning the Cup back-to-back would just be icing on the cake. As far as calling who'll go to finals, I think it's a little early to say.

he was suspended because it was a dirty hit... he left his feet and aimed for his head... if it was solely on the timing its not suspendable hit... was it late? maybe but in a game like that you have to play the body and finish your checks... but you don't go for the head and leave your feet... thats why he was suspended... if horton wasn't out it probably would've just been the game misconduct and that would be it

That isn't long enough to wait. At 20 or so games this season people thought Minnesota was a serious contender...Look at them now. You can't really judge any team till after the all-star break.

So since its now past the all-star break here are my predictions:

The Western Conference champion will be either Vancouver, Detroit or St. Louis (most likely Detroit). The Eastern Conference champion will be either the Rangers or the Bruins (I think the Rangers). The Western Conference champion will win the Cup.

Q. The suspension was for the lateness of the hit.

MIKE MURPHY: Yes. The lateness combined with the injury.

Q. Without speculating too much, had that hit occurred quicker, a split second after he released it, would that hit have been deemed legal under Rule 48?

MIKE MURPHY: This has nothing to do with Rule 48. This is just an interference penalty, an interference hit. If it was immediate after he released the puck, it would be a legal hit. We have them all the time.
