The guy trying to chase them at the end is such a silly sausage, what was he planning to do? I also find the need to give page references a bit pointless.

Harry potter fanatics or global warming? You decide.

As much as I think that this is so unfair for all those die-hard fans of Harry Potter, it is too funny to laugh!

I do find it kinda childish though. Laughing like little girls over the secrets of a Harry Potter book. Obviously nothing better to do with themselves I see.

I do hope the name of the video on Youtube has the word SPOILERS in it.

Gotta laugh at the quote he makes roughly 1:20 mins in. 'Oh isn't that wonderful?' :D

Why is being a complete asshole funny? Why would you spend that amount of time and effort into ruining a night that some people have been waiting for for 10 years? Ha ha, they're a nerd - they like to read! What on earth makes people think that's okay? I had to avoid the good parties, because I knew scumbags like that guy would be there. I can't believe how many people are so upset about people having a good time that they resort to playground pranks. I can't think of a punishment bad enough for that guy, or anyone else that spent their Friday night ruining a party for people they felt weren't as cool as them.

I read all the spoliers before the book came out, so someone yelling that out loud would be funny to me. Granted everyone else would probally be pissed, but that's there problem. It's hilarious, though I wouldn't do it, would be a good idea to. :)

Why? Why is it funny? What makes it a good idea? I just don't get how crashing a party, especially one for which several small children are excited, is funny. The whole thing reeks of soulless bastards. It's malicious and evil. People who think that stuff is funny are the reason why so many kids have crappy childhoods. People who think it's funny to torment those that are different from them are the reasons behind every hate crime. That's how it starts guys. I can't believe how lame people are. Who's the benefit to society here? Someone excited to read a book, or someone who devotes time and energy to make sure that person can't enjoy it.

I, not being a harry potter fan in the slightest bit, got a laugh out of that video! :)

BUT it did make me sad for those die-hards that just had the end of the whole saga ruined. That would be like if someone yelled out the ending of the final episode of LOST in front of me. I would beat the fucking hell out of said person. I definitly think the kids that did this were a bunch of bitches and probably WILL get their asses kicked at some point, maybe not for this harry potter incident...but for being douchebags ;)

I've already read the book so I really don't care.

Even though I'm not a fanatic by any means I really think the people that think this is funny are assholes. Whether or not you like something doesn't mean those kids don't. Everyone has those few things in life that they cling to, as Stinky said, and these people obviously chose that Harry Potter was one of theirs. What was the point in it? What is the point of deliberately trying to hurt people? Those people found joy in the book and were probably looking forward to that day for years and then you have people just crushing all that they were looking forward to.

To those people here that said you loved what happened obviously have a severe lack of empathy and I'm sad and ashamed to have you as a part of this site.

I don't see them spoiling the ending to books like "Topsy and Tim: Go To The Hospital" so why Harry Potter?

Aren't you now tormenting him? You've also been fairly over reactive to the whole thing.

If those people are truly fans of the book they shouldn't care if they know the ending before they read it because the parts inbetween would make it worthwhile. Should the moviemakers not release the films until everyone on the planet has finished reading the book? Wouldn't want to spoil it for those who haven't yet would we because that is the work of the devil.

If children have crappy childhoods because they found out the ending of a book before they read it, they musn't have very interesting lives. If their future somehow depends on the outcome of Harry Potter then what will they do since no more books are on the way?

I guess global warming and biological warfare all came about because someone shouted out the ending of a book before people read it.

Zef...I think comparing this to global warming and biological warfare is a little harsh. I'm sure they still hold those values high, but we know that outcome ;)

If they watched the movie before reading the book then they logically chose the path in which they wanted to read. Me personally, I try to read the book first with no spoilers so that I get the whole experience. Like I did with that shit Eragon.

It's not a matter of finding out accidentally or by purposely watching the movie first....these kids were doing it viciously...without respect or empathy.

It's not just what's in between either...it's the surprise of finding out the entire plot. I wouldn't have enjoyed the book as much if I went into it knowing that Harry beat Voldemort. I still thought she might kill Harry off as to make sure no more books could be made. So I was still delightfully suprised as everything went down.

If it was something any of the naysayers put a lot of stock into they would be singing a different song IMO.

No, I'm saying that this is how it starts. People thinking it's funny to torment people who are different. It becomes acceptable because it's funny. (Or so these bastards think.) What gives them the right to ruin someone's evening for an immature laugh? The more people that laugh at this, the more encouraged people are to continue. But the problem is, the same thing isn't funny over and over. They have to make it bigger and better. Soon, it's going to that kind of thing and stealing the costumes right off of people. Then it's stealing the book. And as always, when people run out of ideas, they resort to violence.

I don't think I'm overreacting at all. Every kid that winds up in counseling because of a bully winds up there because some bastard kid with nothing better to do thought it would be funny to hurt someone different. It usually starts out with a prank.

Finally, the question to which I have not received an answer - why is being a complete and total asshole funny?

Just in case you don't know the definition:
Asshole, n.
2 usually vulgar : a stupid, incompetent, or detestable person

I think this kid falls into all three categories. I can't believe he had nothing better to do. What a pathetic loser. Who needs a laugh so bad that it has to come at the cost of someone's evening - one they've waited for as long as ten years? There are plenty of truly amusing things in this world - all that time and energy he spent looking all that stuff up could've easily been spent looking for something less destructively entertaining. I hope Karma does exist. I would love nothing more than to see this kid get what's coming to him.

I can say without remorse that the video was funny. I'm not sorry at all for laughing at it, and the people who made it should not be sorry they made the video.
Forcemonkey, you are taking this too seriously, or personally, so please stop. The only reason these guys did this was for FREE SPEECH. They thought that if they went around telling spoilers for Harry Potter 7, their video would get hits. And so far, at least 10 people on these forums have seen it, so mission accomplished.
If you don't condone this guy's actions, then you should also hate all the hidden camera show people, all Jackass and Wildboyz people, and Sacha Bara Cohen for making borat. It's the SAME DEAL. People are 'tormented' on all these shows/movies, so why aren't you preaching about how evil they are?
They are all trying to come up with a form of entertainment that will draw the most attention. That is it, plain and simple.
Also, I don't see how the guy can be labeled as a heartless/souless bastard, when he DOESN'T CURSE, and he DOESN'T MAKE FUN OF ANY OF THE PEOPLE DIRECTLY. It would have taken every ounce of self-control in my body to NOT make fun of the girl dressed up like Hedwig. I AM a Harry Potter fan, so don't think I don't know something ridiculous when I see it...and the Hedwig 'costume' was extremely ridiculous. I wouldn't have cared about people dressing like Harry or Dobby, or even Hedwig, but at least come with a costume that took more than 2 minutes to make, or a good purchased costume.

Ironic you should mention it, I do hate all those shows. They're not funny. They just show that our society isn't smart enough for intelligent forms of humor.

No one's entertainment should come at the cost of someone else. It's rude, it's cruel, and above all, it's moronic and asinine. It's the form of entertainment that requires the least amount of thought, and apparently, that's all we're asking of our kids. I feel sorry for everyone that thinks this kind of thing is funny. Maybe you should go read a book, get in on the jokes that don't require hurting people.

Well that would just make you biased against this Youtube film if you hate all forms of entertainment like it. And just so you know, it's not just 'our society' if you are referring to America. No offense English people, but some of the shows that are meant ot be funny there are really tasteless and stupid. Some of it's hilarious, some of it isn't.

Why is it that you think just because one like's this form of entertainment, one automatically doesn't read often enough. In reality, it's not so much a comedic from of entertainment, but is more based on shock value, and the laughs that result.

I think it's f*cking hilarious, but you don't. That's America. And it being America, these kinds of things should be allowed because they are protected under the first ammendment.

But isn't this treading on the rights of others? I should have the choice not to have to hear what he's saying and he's not giving them people that choice. I can turn off a radio if I don't agree with it...I can change the channel if I don't like the show. But what he's doing is hateful...he's not giving anyone a choice.

Exactly. My second ammendment right gives me the right to bear arms, it doesn't give me the right to go into a crowd with them and start pistol whipping people for a laugh.

Shock entertainment is mindless. That's all there is to it. It requires no thought to get a laugh out of it. It's worse than slapstick. If you think it's funny, think about why you think it's funny. Get back to me when you have an answer.
