View Full Version : Would you still buy H3 with no online co-op?

I'm almost considering not buying Halo 3 now. I know it's not confirmed, but if H3 doesn't ship with online co op, I might just leave it on the shelf. This is something I've wanted since the release of Halo 2.

What about you guys?

i think i still will but i would have to say it would make the game a lot better if they included it but heck if i really need to play co-op i can always ask one of my brothers ;)

I might still buy it, just because it's Halo, but I would be extremely disappointed.

When the rumours were floating around of it having online coop it was a definite buy for me. Without, it reverts back to a rental.

Fuck yes I will. The way you're good at Shadowrun, that's me with Halo (except, you know, better). I never even played the single player on Halo 2 until I got it for PC, and only then for the achievements. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool story, but I just loved playing online so much I never got around to it.

Plus, for months after Halo 2 came out, my buddy would come over once every week or two to play, so I can do the same with LAN co-op on Halo 3, not really worried about it.

Same here bro ;) I've been a member of xboxlive ever since it was first introduced. I was playing Jedi Academy 2 on XBL before even halo2 started the online revolution. I was addicted for seriiously 2 years if not more. I will not only buy halo3, but im forking out the 130 for the legendary...with or without online co op. I'm sort of a halo fanboy :D

Now hold on there cowpokes, just because I'm smart enough to pass on the SR fad, doesn't mean I won't be on the Halo 3 dream team. ;)
Some of the guys remember me playing on the Beta...well multiply that times 100, because that's how much MORE I'll play it.
My Halo skills far surpass any other game I've ever played. So don't you dare think I won't eventually be on the Halo 3 dream team.

Or wouldn't the Halo 3 Dream-Team just be x360a Alpha clan?

I can't say that the Co-op won't prevent me from getting it, but I can say just as Legion said, it would be EXTREMELY disappointing. On to the "Dream Team" subject, I'm pretty much the greatest player of any single game ever. Just ask Legion, he'll tell you the same. Seriously, I piss excellence...

I will buy it but I won't like it. Thought it has never been offical this was something I was waiting on. I've been playing game with my buddy since snes, with conta, secret of mana, donkey kong country etc., etc. Sice halo 2 I've moved 1000 miles away and with XBL we still play games together. I'd hate to play halo3, the last of trilogy with out him.

But I'll still get it no doubt.

Lil off topic can anyone help with my gamer card problem.... it doesn't show my recent games any more. http://my.livecard.net/27960/Havelocksmoke.png

It's a maybe. I mean, if all the major titles have co op, why can't Halo 3 have it? They'll most probably sell it in a patch for 4000 microsoft points.

I'll pre-order it once September hits :P

I was shocked when I read this game mite not have online co-op it was bad enough Halo 2 didn't, did not even let you have System Link! but no online co-op will not stop me from buying this, its almost a must own if you've already got the other two :P mite as well finish of the collections, Anyways I've read System Link co-op is in this one so that's all that matters, I would only do co-op with one person and they've no problem with bringing there 360 over round mine to link up ;)

I'd buy it even if it didn't have multiplayer. I love the campaign for the games.

If I want to play multiplayer I'll play Halo 2 if that's all there was.

The beta showed that it was the same thing. And yes, I know it was just a beta... But still... Leave me alone.

You know you can cancel a pre-order and get your money back if you want to right? well, at any rate, just keep your pre-oreder.

I don't see how this is SUCH a big deal. I mean, I would buy the game if it only had singleplayer, and even if it only had multiplayer. Online Co-op should not be a deal-breaker. Yes, it is disappointing that it might not be available, but what can you do?

Quite the opposite... if you've already played 1 & 2 to death this is simply more of the same with a few extra gadgets and pixel pushing gimmicks. Online Coop was something new.

My first post since I've returned from vacation! YEAH!

I really would like to say, "No, I'm going to hold out and wait for the co-op over live", BUT it's almost like I'm pre-programmed just to buy this game when it comes out ya know. It's one of those games that you are just compelled to buy right away. I mean say they released Halo 3 without the campaign even active, I'd still buy the game for the multi-player. I just think Halo is one of those games, that no matter how much they could possibly strip it down, people will buy no matter what. I feel ya though Legion, I'm going to be so so so disappointed if it doesn't release with co-op live. My best friend and I already have the day put in to be off work to play, so it would be quite a bummer if it doesn't release with that feature.

i'd love to make a statement to bungie like boycotting their game if they didn't include this, but that's because i'd want them to know how much they're pissing me off with this. but the only reason they have so much power to piss me off is because i love halo. so no, i can't boycott their game over this, but i'll mail them a turd or something if they don't include co-op so they know how i feel.

Of course I'm gonna buy it. It would be kinda nice to have, but split screen/LAN will work fine for me...

And about this H3 Dream Team...I want in on some of that business...I take my game seriously. I know everyone and their dog thinks they "0wnz0r" at it, but for real...try me out...I'm not bad...I think it'd be good to just have a clan of x360a..ers...

Wow, this game will be so awesome. I cannot believe people will not get it because of the no online coop. You seriously need to consider what is wrong with you. With all the new crap we've found out about like forge, you'd have to be a crack-addict to not want to buy it.

What's sad is BUNGIE never announced online co-op. Just a ton of rumors they had to address. They said if they can get it working they will. Gears of War had online co-op because it was basically a corridor shooter. There were no huge wide open areas, as in Halo 3. There are far more enemies in Halo 3, too, I might add. In fact, Bungie said in a single encounter, there were more active enemies than in the entire first level of Halo.

So from a technical stand point, getting two separate machines to run the same thing simultaneously across many many miles, lag free, would be quite an undertaking. Not to mention, Gears didn't even have lag free co-op. Crackdown, too for that matter, although Crackdown's lag was much worse than Gears. Besides, how many people do you know that actively plays (meaning more than two times a week) Gears co-op on LIVE?

Just because a game does not have Co-Op or multiplayer does not make it a bad game. Halo 3 will have amazing multiplayer, single player, and local Co-Op, at the least. Bioshock is only single player and it is quite amazing, as well. Personally I'd rather a good fleshed out multiplayer and single player than have a team dedicated to Co-Op rather than have some badly implemented functions, as the case in Gears with its shoddy multiplayer system.

i just want my fucking co-op. online. it's one the biggest game companies (if not the biggest) in the world, backed by microsoft, and they're about to give us the biggest, most anticipated console game ever. they've had a long time to work on this, and i'd wait longer if that's what it took for them to get it right. people have been bitching about online co-op since it was ignored for Halo2. i'm paying $125 for this stupid game and i want my online co-op.

if i don't get co-op then of course i'll still play, it's Halo3, but don't say it's too hard and can't be done. they can do it and they should.

Fritz White

i know nothing about programming, but someone said gear's co-op worked because the campaign maps were smaller and more corridor-like. i played online co-op for the first time 2-3 years ago when Doom3 came out and it was awesome. if the Halo maps are too big and wide-open why can't they break them up into smaller sections and give us some loading screens. does that make any sense? i'd put up with that for co-op. we can get 16 players onto maps that seem pretty big to me in Halo 2, and Valhalla wasn't small either. couldn't they break up the campaign like that? they did it with the Darkness. irritating as the load-screens were, it was still a great story and didn't detract much from the experience. i don't know anything about programming and what not, but you seem to, so if my idea wouldn't work could you explain why in layman's terms. i just want online co-op. i've played great online co-op twice already and i don't understand why it's so hard. it seems like they've had a lot of time, but if they need more i'd prefer it. i really want them to get the game right and online co-op is a big point for me.
