Character order?

I've started my first game with Leinhart, but I feel like I might be missing some plot elements because I didn't start with Regneir or someone else. I've only completed the Embrasing Forest so far, so I haven't screwed it up too much, but I'd like to know if I should be playing through with a specific character order.

There is pretty much no story for any of the characters. I don't think it makes any difference what order you do but you might want to leave Kendal until after you've done Celine and Curian.
