What have people found is the easiest way to convert your premium edition console to an elite console? I have the premium edition with a 20 GB hd but I want to convert this to an elite 120 GB version. Plus I just want it to look like the original xbox being black and all. I have a 2 year warranty at best buy which I would like to go return my current 360 and exchange it for an elite console. I heard there was a disc/cord Microsoft can send you for the exchange of data from one hd to the other, but not sure if anyone has done this. For the sake of saving money I really don't want to go buy one and then have to bring it to my house, the long of the short of it is I don't want to buy another xbox 360. I just want to upgrade my current console to the elite. Has anyone had any success while using best buy's replacement program or done something similiar? I look forward to hearing everyone's comments and appreciate everyone's help in my decision making.
I will be putting my premium on ebay and hoping for the best, then I'll put in the extra money myself and get a nice new Elite.

You're not going to be able to replace/exchange your 360 at Best Buy using the replacement plan to get an Elite. Unless your 360 gets the Three Red Lights of Death or other failure. Then you can exchange it for an Elite and pay the extra $79.
Your best bet would be to trade it in (just your console) at a local GameCrazy or EB (not sure about EB but GameCrazy gives you $229 for a system without the HD). Then just pay the difference and get yourself an Elite. Solves all problems and you won't have to worry about the transfer and all the issues that follow. Nothing like going to play Marvel only to be told "You need to login to XBLive to play this game" In the end though you really are just paying $70 for a black system and black controller (hold the HDMI) which in itself was worth it for me.

I have a question, what's the death rate on these new systems?
Seems like all the egg white ones are 100% destine to be repaired. I might find it pointless to spend another 100+ on a system that's will break on me just as quickly as the old one did.

My premiums never had a problem, and I play a ton plus use it as a DVD Player

I bought my premium in early December of 06 and my console is stamped 2006-06-13. Haven't had any major issues yet aside from the occasional freezing and disc read error here and there on some games.
I'm considering upgrading to the Elite and transferring the white plastic from my Premium to the Elite. I don't like the look of the black console

Re: Reliability on the Xbox 360.
My first 360, bought Brand New, had a dead drive in 1 1/2 weeks. It completely stopped reading all forms of media. How's that for "reliability"?
Re: Upgrading to an Elite console.
I'm not sure if Best Buy will even let you keep your original HDD, so you can transfer all your memory onto the 120GB HDD. On top of that, you will need BOTH Console ID's in order to qualify for the free Transfer Kit.
