I just bought this game, so, I hope this community is still active. Anyway, this game seems to love screwing me over. I beat the game without using a continue. No achievement. I beat the game with that particular witch they say to use. No achievement. I used every single magic card. Well, you get the idea. I've also been trying for the achievement for getting kicked out of the store 13 times, but I only see shops appear less than that.

What's going on here? I did change some settings (like setting lives to max) and I played on "No Problem", but I haven't read anywhere about settings effecting achievements. I'm getting so frustrated, because I expect to see the achievement pop, but I get nothing.

What is happening?

EDIT: Nevermind. I restored the settings to the defaults, and now it's actually giving me achievements.

This is actually the second thread posted this week asking why their achievements won't unlock only to find out that it was because they changed their settings and said nevermind. For the record most games require you not to tinker with options in order to unlock achievements so it's best to assume the worst always and do them legit. It is not often games allow you to do this other than Lego games and earlier retial 360 games dating back to 2005,2006.

Not sure how people over-look the fact that this game doesnt allow that when it actually appears 3 times in the Achievement/Roadmap by Step 1. I'll bold red the text that reveals this. Allow me to illustrate this quoted exactly from the guide:

Overview:
-Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10
-Offline: 12 (200:gsicon:)
-Online: 0 (0:gsicon:)
-Approximate amount of time to 200: 10 hours or less (Depends on skill)
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 8 (Must play challenge modes as well)
-Number of missable achievements: None (Most take at least 2 playthroughs)
-Glitched achievements: None
-Does changing settings disable achievements?: Yes
-Do achievements unlock in Co-op?: No

Introduction
Welcome to Trouble Witches Neo! This game contains 12 achievements for 200:gsicon: and is yet another shoot em up added to Xbox Live Arcade’s gaming lineup! Trouble Witches Neo brings in horizontal shooting in which cute and comical little witches roam the skies of Xbox LIVE! Sakurako, a traditional Japanese young witch, joins the cast of the Arcade version! The Story Mode offers a full voice dubbing in English and in Japanese to enjoy twice the game!

If you are familiar with other shooters such as Triggerheart Exelica or Strania then this game will be a cakewalk in comparison thanks to the Magic Barrier and Card system. Downloading the Luca DLC($2) will also make this game even easier since she is so over powered. In Trouble Witches Neo you will choose from 8 cute Witches and taker her into a series of 6 stages in hopes of defeating the ultimate antagonist, Amalgam. This game may appear innocent and simple first off but don’t forget its slogan, “Cute but Frantic!”

Warning!: This game contains achievements that net you odd gamerscore points such as ending your score with numbers like 1, 3, or 7. If you are afraid of losing your “pretty” gamerscore number and worried about not being able to get it back then I suggest you sit this game out. Having said that, you will be missing out on a great game if you do! Also, do not change the settings in this game or else achievements will not unlock. You can, however, unlock Mind Blowing difficulty regardless of how the settings are altered.

Getting Started
Step 1: First things first you should see to it that you check out Challenge Mode and play Score Attack and Boss Attack mode once to get "A challenger!". You may also want to set your lives to 9 and 1CC the game under No Problem difficulty so that you can unlock Mind Blowing difficulty so that you can go for the "It's so mind blowing" achievement. Once that's done be sure to revert settings back to default.

The only time it's okay to change options is for unlocking the extra difficulty setting or getting to Round 20 in Boss Rush mode, NONE of these things will get you achievements but it will help make working towards some, easier. Just had to clear this up one last time since this forum died literally 2 weeks after the game released. :(

To be honest, this was kind of confusing to me, as well. Like you mentioned, the guide says difficulty affects achievements, yet, it tells you to change them before attempting others. It's there if you read through it, but your post was a bit more comprehensible IMO. So thank you for replying to them. It helped me out as well. I'm just deleting the trial, and re-downloading after purchase. Seems like it'll be a fun game. :)
