Question about data transfer to Elite...

So I'm probably going to get an Xbox 360 Elite in late August when it's released in Europe but of course I will need to sell my old 360 for this one. So this means I can't use the data migration kit because I won't have my 20GB HDD and my 120GB HDD at the same time. Well I was wondering, I know you can transfer data onto a memory card then onto the Elite, but what about a USB device? E.g. Pen drive, MP3 etc. Does it work the same way as it does on my computer? (Copying files from Pen drive to computer and vice versa). I hope it does because I don't have a memory card and I don't wanna keep doing loads of transfers to get all my data from one HDD to the other. Any help would be appreciated :)

there is that data transfer kit that allows you to put your data on the computer. and i think llama.com sells a device that lets you hook a external hard drive to your 360. i would think both would work for what you need but i really don't know since the elite was basically my first dive into the 360 gaming experience.

i had to send away for a free transfer kit from MS... you hook it up to both drives, put the disk in the drive, and it copies one to the other, and wipes clean the old one... not sure if they still dont come with one or not.

I already said I can't use the transfer kit because I can't have both HDD's at the same time =/

That kit would still require him purchasing a memory card and even then some files are "locked" ie cant be copied between the HDD and memory card (if I remember correctly).

^^^eBay has the actual Migration Cable up for bidding. When you can't get it for Free from M$, you have to buy it.:(
