So I rented this game late last night. There is no manual, but how hard could it be right? I don't know anything about the game or it's achievements, whatever, I just put it in. Tweak my settings (music down, no invert axis, etc). I pick Decepticons because it's more fun to be evil and I figure I'll have to play both to get a 1000 anyways. And so it begins...
Okay, I'm a helicopter and can switch to a transformer by pressing y. Pretty damn sweet. Y Y Y Y Y = hah that's awesome! Unlimited ammo, easy target and lock on, and look a shiny thing to collect! 1/100 huh? Awesome cause I love collecting crap, I don't know why but I do. I fly all around grabbing a bunch of these little squares and so far so fun, except for this annoying guy that keeps telling me to kill the base or some crap. There is a green pillar of light that I'm avoiding because I don't know what it is and I don't want to end my level until I have all 100 of these little cubes.
So I run all around until I find this big ass box for a challenge. I only needed 20 cubes and I've got more than enough so sure, let's see what's up. Blow up 18 guys? Cake! Hmm, okay maybe not because these bastards have like a permanent shield and they never drop it! Ahah, X is melee and it just owns these little guys. 10 - 12 - 14 guys go down, uh oh I might run out of time so I better step it up.. 16 down, umm no more guys? WTF! Wait, there is the ONE guy, maybe I have to take him out to get them respawning again. Shooting doesn't work and every time I try to melee him I get thrown back a damn mile. I fail charging this guy a few more times then I see he's got some spinning thing around him preventing me from getting close. I try inching forward and I cannot melee without getting knocked away so this isn't working.. oops, times up!
Well screw that guy, I'll come back to him - let's get more of those cubes!
Hey, there is another one of those big cubes, this one needs 40 little cubes, which I have.. awesome, so let's try this one. Hmm, okay those guys don't die but if I throw them out of the circle I'm a winner. Sumo, circle.. I get it. 10 - 12 - 14 - 16.. there it goes again.. no more wimpy spawns and one guy in the middle. He doesn't have any spinning move so I can get up in his grill but damn that f'n shield! Now not even melee works. Man wtf is going on here? Whatever, maybe I need to upgrade my level/skills/etc so I'll come back to this.
So I flew around and got 70something of these cubes before that green light kept calling me. Fine, I'll enter the light! Maybe that's where I can do my upgrades or whatever. So I get there and the level ends? Whatever, it's a TT game so there will be come cool lobby or something so I can see how I'm doing and whatever else I need to collect. Nope, straight to a another level, but same map. Okay, I meet objectives and I go to the next light. Nothing. Oooo, now I'm the scorpion thingie, coolness. Finish that and still it just keeps going.
Time for another level? No no no no no, screw this I'm going to bed. I'll check the boards tomorrow and see wtf I'm doing wrong. The today I check a few dozen threads and they all are about very specific things. Deeper questions than I have to ask. So here's my list of n00b questions for a children's game (sigh) -
Is there any level/power up system? If so, how the hell do I get to see my progress?
What's with these little bastards in the challenges? How do I kill these guys?
Is there ever any kind of hub for this game?
Is there a way to replay levels if I move on before getting everything?
Is there no tutorial? Did I skip this or miss it by playing the Decepticons first?Okay, that's it for now. Let the hazing begin.
