I hate using guides on my first playthrough, and my usual plan of attack on games is :

Hardest run first, no guides
Easy run for collectibles.

Anyway, was going to do the original Alice first, then hit a Nightmare/1 Hysteria run through, followed by an easy collectible run.

Thing is, how hard is Nightmare on your first run without having anything levelled up?

Or should I go for a Normal run/no guide followed by a Nightmare/1 Hysteria/Collectible Guide run?

Cheers

i followed more or less the same method (although i gave up on Alice 1 then came back to it after beating Alice 2 lol)

with the DLC dresses and weapons nightmare/no hysteria is pretty easy, i didnt have any trouble with it (and i typically avoid the hardest difficulties)

i also think its easier to the collectible run second, since you can load any checkpoint you dont have to do a solid run through, load a checkpoint, get what you need, then skip to the next checkpoint

First
Easy or Normal - Collectibles / Weapon upgrades / No damage achievements / No Hysteria

Second
Nightmare - you should have upgraded weapons and health using new game+ - fly through the game not worrying about picking things up. This playthrough should be fairly quick compared to the first. It can get pretty mad. I tried nightmare and got to the second world but I was trying for collectibles to - I ended up restarting because you do end up dieing more than expected. If you are getting the dresses try it on first run. Otherwise I would really take advantage of fully upgraded weapons and health. Some parts can be pretty tough!

i agree 100%... would be best to do an easy/normal first to get all of your upgrades unlocked for Nightmare. The extra health is very very useful.

Cheers guys.

So does the DLC (original Alice) contain extra dresses ands stuff then?

You know, once you complete the game on any difficulty, you are able to switch to the Classic dress which will regenerate health when shrinking. I used that dress for nightmare run through. Didn't cost me an extra cent...

Thanks for that info NitNoid, I never knew that!

@Lavindathar
I'm pretty sure that DLC is just the original game (which you access from the main game title menu). This DLC costs 160 points. It's the Weapons & Dresses Pack DLC.

that would be a no... only Madness Returns has DLC content.

either way, for $2 I'd have to say this is by far the most useful DLC that has come out in awhile.

And now that the game price has dropped to $39 just after 2 weeks, its an even better deal!
