I would rent it first to see if you like it. Some people hate it
and others love it. Just like with any game.
It's a pretty mediocre game I think.

Rent it first. I liked the game but, all achievements can be gotten within a weeks time (if that long).

i dont even have to play or read a review to tell you hell to the no
Rent it first you might even finish it off and get all the achievements before you have to bring it back its not a hard game.

I like the game and I bought it. But after you're finished with it there is no replay value. So i say rent it...It's cheaper.

Thanks for posting this, I too was wondering the status on "Transformers: The Movie" game for 360. I want to play it, but IGN gave it a 5/10 and usually they tend to be dead on for their reviews. But then again they have scored games I really enjoy rather low, so i figured I'd see what you all have to say. What I gather is....
If your a die-hard fan, you buy it and keep it on the shelve after the game is done because with no re-play value it makes it suitable for rent and beat.
Thanks guys, Hopefully I'll be signing up for gamefly and renting this one...considering my Blockbuster location near my house wants 8bucks a 360 rental. :uzi:
IGN gave it a 5/10 and usually they tend to be dead on for their reviews.
IGN gave Overlord three different ratings within two weeks, not very dead on if they don't even agree with themselves =P
If in doubt, rent it first. If you are unsure whether to buy a game but want to find out it is your best option after playing a demo somewhere, it goes for pretty much every game.
It is a quick 1000 if you are looking for points, but it you want to be thrilled and amazed by an astonishing game look elsewhere. You might also want to avoid it if you get car sick or don't like collecting things, lots of things.

touché my good sir, with things like that tho you can see how I am looking around a bit for reviews to compare it to. Do you have a better game site you use for your information/reviews/etc? I'm all ears :uzi:

Buy it!!!!
At 28 I grew up with transformers Ive seen the movie and its awesome so being able to transform at the touch of a button with hi def graphics was a dream come true. So if your looking to relive your childhood like me then this games for you. It has not had very good reviews and to be honest it probably doesnt have replay value once done but its fun and to be quite honest the achievements are varied. Also no online achievements making it easier.
Some of the bonus content you can unlock is great if you are a fan too.
So IMHO BUY IT!!!

Rent it for sure. Its fun for a while but there just isn't enough content in the game. I spent a LOT more time searching for those damn little cubes to get the achievements than actually doing any missions..

I tried to rent it and couldn't find it.
There was no demo for it on Marketplace to I bought it, I managed to get it for 29 quid which wasn't bad but i've only played it once and im definately going to be selling it on soon!
I thought the movie was great, but the game is far too repetative, you're just doing the same things over and over.
Its distinctly average, but at least its a few easy gamer points!

Ok thanks everyone. If I do anything I will rent it first, and if I like it enough then I might buy it.

i personnaly think the game (for a movie spin off) is quite good. Although like most others you will get very fustrated with the messy camera angles at times.

I'll be getting this as soon as it comes down in price. Not just for the points, but for the nostalgia. Oh, and the fact that you can stomp around as a giant transforming robot ! Woohoo !

So about how many hours of gameplay to get all the achievements? Is it comparable to TMNT? I am thinking about renting this game and want to know how long it would take to get the full 1000. Thanks!

I'd recommend renting it first, you can't trust any reviews these days because of fanboys and their uber bias.

Definitely rent any "movie" game. They are rushed to market and usually suffer from many defects. This game is no exception. However, this is the only game that allows you to play as the Transformers, both sides and the robots are great looking. I would say get it from the bargain bins. I own it and love it, but I am willing to look past its many flaws. The game is short and the missions mostly easy with a few frustrating parts. It has no difficulty levels and the unlockables are very disappointing. But you can lay waste to a large city environment playing as one of seven main Transformers (eight including the scorpion sidekick). The game should be available for less than twenty dollars almost anywhere.
