Disc Unreadable

I was playing Gears of War today in a ranked match when all of the sudden a pop-up to the right of my screen said "Disc is unreadable" I clicked A and it took me to the dashboard. How am I supposed to fix this issue because I want to get back in the game and get some headshots.

This is know to happen. Usually just rebooting takes care of it. If you are saying that you did that already and it didn't work then it sounds like you have a more serious issue. Try inserting a different game or DVD as a first step. If it still doesn't read anything then call 1-800-4MY-XboX.

You cant get Back Into the Same Game.....Just Clean Your Disk With A Slightly Wet Wipe Adn Then join Another Game

Alright I just played a full game of madden 07 without getting any errors, so I think the problem is only for Gears of War. Wipe my disc you say? Alright I'll try that out.

Why waist money a new disc when you can just rent the game you have broken and then just switch discs. Easy as 1, 2, 3.

I wiped the disc and right when I entered the game the error popped up. I washed it again and then get 10 minutes of solid gameplay and then the error popped up again. So fucking gay. I didnt do anything to the fucking disc. Im so pissed off right now.

I had that happen to gears of war twice after I bought it, once I got the scratch ring of death, second time the CD cracked taking it out of the case, both times future shop warranty covered it <3

Look on the bottom of the CD, is there a circular scratch ring around the CD?

Seems way too common that people bump their consoles and the CD pops off the tray and continues spinning, making the CD unreadable :/

It could be your disc drive, that is what it was for me.

If I rented the game at blockbuster I would have to take the sticker off the game from blockbuster and put it on the one I have at my house thats unreadable. Is the sticker easy to take off, or is it like permantly there?

I might be wrong, but something oil base should be able to take it off. But don't try it until you actually find out. Or attempt to peel it off. Or just don't go to Blockbuster.

EDIT: Magooush go to EB Games, and tell them what you told us, show them the ring, and they might sorta sand the bottom of it, which is actually just removing some layers and your game should work perfectly. They did it for my Madden.

How would I get charged? Do they test the games on their own exclusive blockbuster xbox 360 in the basement. If so, I guess I am going to have to rent it at a cheapass rental gaming store no ones ever heard of.

ya dude my bro broke his project 8 and he rented a blockbuster project 8 then im like why did you rent that he's like so i can switch them so he thought he was slick and returned it and 2 days later they called my home and they charged his credit card 45 dollars for the game because they said he broke it and the game only costs 25 dollars at gamefly LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trick is to not just return it but return it within the hour and tell them the problem was there before you rented it :p

Of course that's the asshole thing to do, you could just man up and buy a new copy :p

I had similar issues when I had the 360 vertical (Saints row was a nightmare for it.)
I've since got it horizontal and plut a dvd under it (its on the carpet so this is to help aid airflow to the vents to stop it overheating.
My drive makes a funny high pitched whistling noise too so chances are its on its way out. Great considering its only four months old (from new)

I think if the game is published by microsoft, then you might get a replacement? At least when I called support to ship my disk scratching X0 back, the guy wanted to know "what company names do the game covers have".

If you switch your game for a Blockbuster game it will work but what makes you think the game you rent wont be scratched up ether? Its not like the people who rent these games take them home and take good care of them :p
So if you do get away with it, who knows in 3 or 4 weeks youll prolly will be going threw the same thing again:eek:

My parents signed up for blockbuster rental movie program (like netflix) They get their movies in their mail and all that and every month I get a free game rental, and the rental lasts 2 weeks but if u keep it for like 4 weeks you have to pay a $1.25 fee. So if it does happen I will just use my next free game rental.

Is Blockbuster stupid? Same happened here when I rented GoW. ( I also rented it cash so no charges when I drop it in the dropbox and run.. :P)

Same thing :). I get a bunch of free rentals though. My dad is the #1 customer at the Blockbuster near hear. He threatened to switch to NetFlix when a problem occured.. Everything is awesome now. (We got 6 free movie/game rentals that month. LOL!)

Mag if you feel nervous about swapping it, see if there is a movie gallery, or one of their hollywood videos. They have a 25 cent "damage protection plan". Pay for the plan then swap yours and bring it back. Ive done this a few times at blockbuster and their own employees tell me to do it. Just dont swap on an independent retailer!
