Hey, I was wondering if any of you guys noticed this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRoPaLF_eHM

I didn't actually see the movie but you can hear the 360 boot-up sound and then it turns into a transformer. There's also a mountain dew machine in the movie that shoots pop-cans at people.

The shameless advertising kinda bugged me for some reason.

Yeah, it was cool seeing the 360 come alive and whatnot.

But it's Transformers dude. Is nothing sacred? :(

Hm..I've been hearing some pretty good things about it. Maybe I should see it. Does anyone have any other example of subliminal 360 advertising? ;)

No, if things were sacred Megatron wouldn't be a damn alien spacecraft he'd be a bad ass freaking gun like he originally was. Whether it be Michael Bay or some other exec whoever it was that changed it they need to be forced to watch all the old cartoons until they get it through their thick skull that Megatron is supposed to be a FREAKING GUN. I'm an old school Transformers fan, I grew up on the cartoon and the toys, but when I found out this little tid bit it deflated my interest some. Yeah I'll see it and I'll like it, but still its just not how it should be.

As for product placement its ridiculous and often sad. I remember years ago when there was a bidding war between fast-food chains on who would be in Demolition Man which Taco Bell won. Think back in years past about video games I recall 1080 on the N64 which had all Tommy Hilfiger stuff and fast forward today in the Ubisoft games they're whoring out Dodge cars and trucks. I just laugh then blow em up. But it is pretty cool to have a 360 come to life and attack a dude; it'd be even more funny if it had the ring of death flashing. That might explain some things.

ya this movie had a ton of advertisements in it but i loved it anyways, i have already seen it twice. If anyone noticed every single car from the autobots was a GM car ;)

And clispe megatron is a Gun, both his legs turn into guns in the movie and he lines up to shoot Prime before he gets drilled by a flying car

In a movie based on every objects being robots in disguise, and where humanity is caught in the middle of a war you should expect a degree of product placement.

From the cars and vehicles the Transformers change into to the objects scene in that video.

Personally I like it, and it makes sense - imagine how jarring it would've been to see a Zball 280 transformer into a robot, rather than an Xbox 360. The movie is trying to show our world being destroyed, not an alternative reality where all brand names are different and no one drinks Mountain Dew.

It works in the context of the film, thats whats important. If it stood out as something out of universe or out of character, then I could understand the complaining, but the simple truth is the Xbox 360 exist, and this film shows it as doing so.

Also - the idea of Megatron as an alien fighter plane makes perfect sense. You have to understand that this is a big budget version of the cartoon, having him turn into a Walter gun makes, frankly, little sense.

Megatron is after the destruction or control of everything on Earth, how does changing into an hand gun help him achieve that goal? It doesn't. Meanwhile having him transform into an alien jet speaks volumes about his character. While all the other Transformers, Autobots and Decepticons alike are hiding on Earth, disguised as objects and vehicles from our world Megatron is so might and self powerful that he doesn't feel the need to lower himself to that level. Hiding is not something Megatron wants to do, nor would he really consider it.

Just my two cents people.
