My buddy got a new 360 cause his other crapped out on him. Upon doing so, he used his old HDD which has all his game saves and downloaded marketplace content on it. Only problem is, they wont play offline!!! We redownloaded them and all but no go.... what can be done??? thanks people in advance! :)

Nothing can be done, this is one of the biggest downsides of the Xbox 360.

Marketplace content is locked to the system you purchased the items on. If your memory unit switches to a different console, you will only be able to access the content while on XBL.

It's real shitty, especially when it's not our fault that the consoles mess up.

Maybe I'm just stupid or just not a hacker, but why would you want your console offline again?

Some people aren't always able to be online 24/7. Gotta remember those who bring their system with them on business trips, vacations, etc.

I seem to recall at least a long while ago that if you called up tech support they'd give you some codes to let you re-buy the stuff you already own for your new console. Of course, the last I heard of this was about a year ago, and with millions of broken consoles I don't know if they care to go through that process anymore. Does anyone know?

I had read somewhere that if you have a brand new console with no download history then you can erase your downloads and re-download them. This should let you use your DL offline. I tested this with my brother's console, he bought 3 arcade games and his 360 broke shortly after. I re-downloaded them and the games work offline. Give it a try, it might solve your problem.

People who do that are the ones who need the content inactive. Seriously, if you're going on a business trip you shouldn't be thinking about popping headshots. Likewise if you're going to take your family somewhere, you shouldn't dump them at the beach or park or whatever and go back into your hotel room to find that last hidden orb. Give it a rest.
