So I'm ordering a new laptop for school and have a couple of questions about whether it's worth upgrading the processor and hard drive. The one I'm getting-(Gateway M465-E) comes with a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache) and for $100 more I can upgrade to a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.00GHz, 667MHz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache). The hard drive starts at a 60GB 5400rpm Serial ATA hard drive but for a little over $100 I can get 100GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive. Worth the money or not? I don't know a whole lot about this kind of stuff so any opinions would be helpful--thanks

Hardly anything can utilize dual core processors yet so I don't see the point in upgrading it for another hundred bucks. As for HDD, I bet if you use it as your computer for music, documents, pictures, etc that you'll fill 60GB in no time. That's pretty minuscule. If you think you'll need more then 60GB, I definitely would upgrade. Now if you don't think you'll need 60GB, there's no point. It depends on how you use it and what you save on it.
