New Screenshots! Never Seen Before

In Screenshots, we unveil a pair of maps that have previously only surfaced via leaks and Interweb-related treachery. The first map, Last Resort, is a spirited remake of Halo 2's Zanzibar map. While the map looks and plays a bit more wide open, the size differences are largely the result of an expanded walkway near Camp Froman and a significantly larger interior with some new entry points.

The second new map we're taking the lid off and letting into the wild is Epitaph. An extremely elevated Forerunner structure, Epitaph is a series of external hallways leading into a multi-level interior with a central theater at the center on the lowest level. Like most maps in the Halo 3 portfolio, Epitaph has seen considerable revisions in the few months since media were invited to check out the structure. Weapon placements, and a few structural changes have changed the way the map plays considerably. Epitaph, like Last Resort, appeared during the Halo 3 internal beta and then recently in the pages of U.S. consumer magazine, Gamepro.

The latest batch of images also lift the veil on a pair of Armor Permutations in Halo 3. These multiplayer-only, cosmetic changes to your armor are a way to add diversity, spice and flavor to Halo 3's multiplayer shenanigans. The C.Q.B. (Close Quarters Battle) and E.V.A. (Extra Vehicular Activity) variants of Spartans are two of the numerous permutations players will be able to unlock in Halo 3.

Finally, a new vehicle has been added to the stable of horses Spartans can ride around on in Halo 3's multiplayer -- the Brute Chopper. With four linked, firing auto cannons and a top speed of 75 mph, the Brute Chopper is a formidable opponent for Spartans on foot or in vehicle alike.

I think it's kidna cool to see the different variants of armour in the 3rd picture and what the possibilities might be like. Im not surprised to see "Last Resort" since we've all seen the leaked video from a while ago. The 4th picture vehicle also looks quite cool, just like a ghost, but more armoured and less alien like. But the 2nd picture, for me, seems like a bad map, one Im not going to be playing much.

I love you very much Maka! Everything looks sweet. A feel as giddy as a schoolgirl. This will defiantely make Halo 3 my favorite game ever. Everybody thought they alreafy knew, saw, and played everything in the Beta. This blend of new stuff (plus the Elite models and THEIR new armor, not to mention the new maps) will definately make it a greater, and newer experience than the Beta.

heh... this will make things interesting but I hated the beta and won't be playing Halo 3 online that much anyways so it doesn't exactly intrigue me all that much... at least it almost looks like Bungie is thinking.... almost...

Wow, another nay-sayer. How can you say Bungie isn't thinking? I'm tired of people saying that Halo 3 (even the beta) were nothing special and were "the same as Halo 2". Okay, that's total BS.
The reason the Beta only looked a little better than Halo 2 was becuase it was a very marginal percent of the final product. Also, Halo 2 had an update so it would look like a next-gen game on the 360. Compare the original XBOX version of Halo 2 to the Beta screenshots. Yeah that's what I thought.
Also, what makes you think Bungie is not thinking? What part of new weapons, new shields, new maps, new medals, new equipment, new vehcles, and new weapon balances do you not get? Also, do you not understand that Bungie is making a SINGLEPLAYER GAME TOO?!?!? You can't expect the online to be the best there ever will be, when they also have to concentrate on their story (which is their most important part). Whu focus on the story? It's too make up for the disappointing ending oh Halo 2. However, seeing as how this is the last in the trilogy it should have a very satiable ending.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opion, but while you sit there in the dark while everyone else is playing Halo 3, it's your loss. I pity you for your short-mindedness and your ignorance.

Ohhh the things I could say to justify my opinion. Such as the many MANY flaws in Halo 2. Oh what was that? Super bounces were intended?? uh huh suuuuuuure bungie. Anyways it doesn't matter. People are going to buy the game regardless just like everyone bought Halo 2. Halo 2 was actually the first game I ever pre-ordered. Also, if they never came out with anything new then Halo 3 would turn out worse than Halo 2 and easily be the worst game of the franchise. So don't pity me for my short-mindedness or so called "ignorance" I pity you for your narrow-mindedness in believing so heavily in Halo 3. For multiplayer have people forgotten about Unreal Tournament 3? Anyways, minimalistic rant over.

I just hope Halo 3 turns out a hell of a lot better than its starting to be. I really hope that it actually has somewhat of a single player this time around as well. And before you say anything again about the beta, I got what I was expecting out of it and understand why it was the way it was. It was still mainly a multiplayer demo regardless.

Im pretty sure that it was ONLY a multiplayer demo. unless calling it the Halo 3 multiplayer beta was a joke that i accidently fell into and missed the menu option to play single player.

ok, argumentativeness aside, i understand that not everybody can love a game. in fact i hate halo 2 online. i suck, it pisses me off, and i get mad. if there were online achivements for halo 2 i would ignore them altogether.

but...the halo 3 beta was really fun. somehow i got really good, had a great time and was bummed when i couldnt be opened anymore.

so, people mids change, but lets let them change on their own, if they are going to. let them play or not play, however they choose. if it takes 3 months for them to play it, and realise they love it, let them. no one will be angry at anyone that way.



basically, lets not flame, or argue to argue. there is a reason that there are sooo many different kinds of games, with different styles and different everything.

lets all just enjoy our 360s the way we paid money to, playing the games WE like.

i like the new armor variants they look really cool i think ill enjoy those..the choppers look like a great addition to the vehicle arsenal and the zanzibar-type map looks really good i think im going to like it considering ive always loved zanzibar

Ah, Last Resort... The best map from Halo 2 returns in the sequel.
Epitah (sp) looks like crap.
The Brute Chopper looks like the Pimp Device of the Future, but it better own some noobs online or I wont use it.

Am I the ONLY one who read this? Who specifically said after my post, NOT to get into a Halo argument in this thread, and yet I find the bickering still contiuing...Take this to the "why halo is overrated" thread if you want to discuss it.

BACK ON TOPIC, I'd like make sure everyone know which armor variant is which...Despite the fact the guy in the middle is holding a shotgun, he is NOT the C.Q.B. , or close-quartes guy. He is wearing the E.V.A. ,the extra-vehicular armor. The C.Q.B. can be seen on the far right with a Brute Shot.
The fact the EVA guy was using a shotgun confused me and some others, so I wanted to set this straight.
