To be honest I had never heard of L.A. Noire until about a month ago. But I never bothered looking up any info about the game until yesterday. The reason being is because I was so hyped about brink I knew that was game I was going to buy to matter what. After I played it, well I can def. say that it did not live up to my expectations. So after looking info on L.A. noire I am seriously considering getting the game but the thing is I havent played brink all that much and I hate buying games and not playing them because i like to get my moneys worth out of the games I buy so what should i do?

1. Wrong forum.

2. If you're worried about wasting your money, you could always rent.

How many games do you own? Did you come into a forum and ask a bunch of complete strangers, who may/may not have the same taste in games as you, if you should buy those games too?

The game looks interesting to me, but personally I doubt I will like it enough to pay full retail for it so I’ll wait a year and get it for $20 used.

If you like Rockstar's other games, then you should consider this one. However it isn't going to be your typical GTA free roam style game. There's a lot more focus on investigation, and interrogation, than shooting and driving

I've pre-ordered it because I have a lot of faith that it will be great (plus from everything I've read its EXACTLY a type of game I've been waiting forever for someone to make).

So I'll be playing it all day Tuesday...I will post back about what I think.

Yeah likewise, I'm hoping it is really engaging story wise. From what I've seen in the previews it sure does look like something unique. So I'll be taking a chance and buying it on day one.

The game isn't out yet, nobody has any experience what it's like. Makes this thread kinda pointless. Anyhow...

It's developed by Rockstar, known for action-packed sandbox games that have a huge following. So there'll be plenty of people who say 'Buy it!' just because it's a game by Rockstar. However, LA Noire is going to have very little action and focus on detective work. If that kind of thing interests you, it might be worth checking out. If you're unsure or money is tight, wait for a review from a source you consider reliable, or try it at a friend's. There's no law about having to buy games on release day.

I donīt think itīs like GTA. It looks more like Mafia 2 and this was a straight ahead game with no freeroam activities. I think if you search for a GTA game yourīe wrong.

I love Sandbox games, and more specifically I love Rockstar's sandbox games. I will be picking this title up. Also, the story is supposed to be awesome. I'll be buying it just to play through the story.

I lol'd...

Like the OP said, you didn't do much research, so stop being lazy and research it out. If you like what you hear and see, then buy it, if not then don't. Honestly no one cares how you spend your money but YOU. So if you really do care about wasting your money as you claim, it only seems logical you would do some research before investing in said product. That said the game comes out tomorrow, so unless you order a copy now to get some version of a preorder bonus, I would just wait till GOTY or something with all the DLC comes out.

Rockstar is good about releasing games with all the DLC. I recently got Undead Nightmare and that was a standalone DLC with full MP and the MP DLC. I also just purchased GTA IV: Complete edition and expect to arrive tomorrow, same time as L.A. Noire lol. I had played the original, but now bought it with both DLC. So in closing, if you don't buy it now and didn't really want a preorder bonus, then just wait. Hell like you said, you weren't even aware of it till a month ago. Better off waiting.

YES! I just read the review and they gave it a 96/100. Which on the all-time X360A reviews is tied in 3rd. The only other 2 games that beat it were GTA IV (98) and Bioshock (97)

Fantastic game, I'm about halfway through the game and can say it is extremely addictive. If you have the money, buy it, if you don't, rent it. Simple.

And there are free roam activities to complete, and there is a free roam mode. I'm hoping there will be a lot of DLC with new cases so for me it was worth the buy. If you want to be a smart shopper wait until this game gets a GOTY Release with all the DLC.

So sorry to hear you purchased Brink, I think we were all a little disappointed and over hyped on that game. The hype for LA Noire lived up to my expectations up to this point.
