Just attended an event at Microsoft headquarters. Within a few weeks customers of Verizon Wireless will have the HTC Trophy. It's slick and near perfection. You can stream netflix on it. It's not 4g but that's okay. Battery life is well above average. Microsoft gave me a halo reach game as well as $120 to spend at the Microsoft store. Everyone there was extremely nice and excited about finally partnering with Verizon with the new OS.

I'm really looking forward to getting rid of my Droid...it is such a POS. Hopefully the Trophy will be better.
Awesome you got some free stuff too.

Yeah it is quite a good phone! I currently have the Droid Pro and the HTC Thunderbolt. I mean I like them both, but I believe Windows has more for what a gamer wants (Netflix, Zune, Avatar, Office, Achievements/Games). Also it seemed much more robust. I will probably end up buying it at full retail or just turning my plan into a family plan (I get 50% off service, so it's not that big of a deal).

Do you know the date exactly that when it will be released?

I really wish I could find out when this damn phone is coming out. I find it kinda dumb that they cant give a solid date and stick to it. The latest I hear is tomorrow (May 12th) but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Another rumor was it was coming out May 19th but who the hell knows at this point.

Well its May 13th, and still no news... or phone. :( Here is hoping that the may 19th date holds true...

I've had mine a week now and I really like it, but I do echo what a lot say about it (at least on the forums I've been to): very little customization and the battery life isn't so hot.
On an aisde, does anyone know how/if you can change the cover pic for your picture album? The one that pops up isn't a very nice picture and I'd rather use a different one I've taken.

Mango should bring in more customisation later in the year. It needs to if their plan for market share has any chance.
And fairly sure you can't select the picture- it changes on mine every day or so. Pain when you have a load of pics you don't want it to use.

I've heard a lot of people say the battery life is quite short. Anyone have an estimation of about how long? Will it at least last a full day?

Depends on usage. For me, barely lasts a day. I have to have a charger at home and at work.

If you don't mind me ask, what is your usage? That sounds weird but I don't know how else to word it...lol
Just really trying to decide if I want this phone or not :p

Couple of hours of voice calls a day, emails updating every 30 mins (3 accounts), and probably do about a gig of data over a month.
Even if you don't use the phone a lot, you will need to charge it up every 2 days.

OK great. I generally do less than that, so battery should be fine for me. Now I just need to find the time to go pick up the phone.
Thanks a bunch for the info. Really appreciate it.

I was afraid of that. Serves me right for having those kind of pictures on my phone, but how in the world does this phone not have an albums option?!
My old Audiovox 9900 even had albums, and that was like five years ago.

Games really kill my battery. Sometimes I have to charge multiple times a day.

Does anyone know how games are billed? Are they billed to your phone bill or can they be billed to your credit card? I just ordered the HTC Trophy off ebay and it should be here tuesday, just curious on how they bill the games.

If it's anything like the rest of the Verizon phones, they're billed to your phone. It could be that Microsoft has tied it to your Xbox Live CC, tho. I would say I could answer you on Monday when I go pick mine up from the store, but...by then you'll be able to answer your own question as well :/

You have the option of either having your purchase on your monthly bill or using a credit card tied to your xbox live account.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you connect to live/and or earn achievements with 3G? I have the email/internet package for my plan so would it be able to connect to live as long as I have a signal or does it have to be wifi?

You can connect to live and earn achievements from 3G just fine.
I'm pretty sure you can even earn achievements from games if you aren't in a 3G area. It just updates your gamercard whenever you get back to 3G... Don't quote me on this second part though, because I'm not 100% sure.

It will update your achievements once you're back in a service area, complete with data stamps even.
